The active ingredient Permethrin controls a wide variety of irritating insects and pests. Solutions Pest & Lawn is proud to have permethrin based products as part of our broad inventory of Professional DIY pest control products and wholesale pest control supplies.

First discovered in 1973, Permethrin is both a medication and an insecticide. Pest control manufacturers have been using permethrin in a wide range of professional pest control products to address the infestations of a variety of pests such as fleas and ticks, mosquitoes, bedbugs, cockroaches, spiders, termites and flies. Permethrin can be used as a repellent and preventative measure for pests or can be used offensively to kill intruding insect around the home or yard. Permethrin is able to work right away killing on contact. Permethrin is found in a number of different formulations such as concentrates, dusts, and wettable powders.

Permethrin begins working immediately upon contact or ingestion, leading to insect knock-down and eventual death. Permethrin kills by acting as a powerful poison to the central nervous system of affected insects. Once coming into contact with permethrin, the insect’s nerve cells become agitated, causing paralysis and preventing normal bodily functions, including feeding and grooming. Gradually this leads to the affected insects death.

Permethrin belongs to a class of insecticides known as synthetic pyrethroids. Synthetic pyrethroid is a man-made insecticides developed to imitate the chemical properties of the naturally-occurring substance pyrethrum, which comes from the crushed petals of the Chrysanthemum flower. This plant has been recognized since the 18th century for its insecticide properties. Permethrin is often preferred to the pyrethrum as an active ingredient because they have the capacity to last longer and wear off less easily.

Permethrin is also safe for humans and pets as it will not irritate the skin. In fact, permethrin is used in medicine as a topical cream or lotion. Browse our selection of permethrin-based products below.
