Hi-Yield 38-Plus
Hi-Yield 38-Plus
Hi-Yield 38-Plus manufactured by VPG Inc., has a high percentage of 38% permethrin as its active ingredient. Due to its high concentration of permethrin, Hi-Yield 38-Plus can only be used on the outside of residential buildings.
Hi-Yield 38-PLus will work well to fight insects against the perimeter of your residence, ornamental plants, lawn, trees, and landscaped areas. Another positive effect from this product is that it is non-staining to most home sidings depending on their age and cleanliness before application.
When applied to your turf the active ingredient permethrin will immediately affect the insects nervous system causing death or paralysis. Because of its broad spectrum label from turf, termite, and ornamental it will control a wide variety of insects from ants including their mounds, types of beetles, ticks, and many other listed insects.
Tools Needed
For Hi-Yield 38-Plus you will need a type of hand held sprayer, back pack sprayer, or hose end sprayer to treat a large area.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine the size of the area to be treated with the Hi-Yield 38-Plus by measuring the area's length and width, and then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). The mix rates will vary depending on what you are treating for, but typically you will use between 0.4 fl. oz. to 0.8 fl. oz. of Hi-Yield 38-Plus per 1,000 sq. ft.
- Step 2: To mix, fill your sprayer halfway with water, pour in your measured amount of product based on your treatment area, and then fill your sprayer the rest of the way with water. Shake your sprayer to ensure an even mix.
- Step 3: To treat the perimeter of your residential building, first apply a 6 to 8 ft. wide band of soil around the perimeter of home then treat the foundation wall to a height of 2 to 3 ft. Use a spray volume preferably with a hose end sprayer between 2 to 10 gallons of hi-yield 38-plus with 0.5% emulsion per 1,000 sq. ft. For treating wood destroying pests, use 0.5% emulsion to fill in voids and damages in the spaces between the wood frames and structures of the foundation. For most broadcast applications, you will want to apply a coarse spray application that evenly covers plant surfaces, spraying to wet but not run-off. For mound drench treatments, you will apply with a type of hand held sprayer to easily apply a 4-foot diameter circle around the mound until it is completely wet.
Where to Use
Hi-Yield 38-Plus is only for use on the exterior or perimeter of your home on ornamental plants, lawns, trees, turf, shrubs, and vines in landscaped areas. This product can be applied to lawns near or around private residencies such as townhouses, duplexes, condominiums, house trailers, carports, garages, fence lines, storage sheds, barns and other residential areas.
When to Use
Apply Hi-Yield 38-Plus early in the morning or late evening hours or when insect activity is beginning on your residential lawn. Application between early spring to mid summer can be made as long as the day is not hot. Apply on calm days when winds are not blowing or rain is not predicted for 24 hours to increase Hi-Yield 38-Plus effectiveness.
Safety Information
Hi-Yield 38-Plus is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying or mixing the product. Keep children or pets away from treated area until 48 hours have passed and for spray mixture to completely dry.
Do not use Hi-Yield 38-Plus on plants meant for consumption or plant seeds.
Special Considerations
Hi-Yield 38-Plus is not a preventative and will only be effective when insects appear on the outside of your residential foliage. This product is not for indoors and may only be used on the outside of your home, this does not include crawl spaces.
However, Hi-Yield 38-Plus is non-staining to most home siding (depending on its age and cleanliness) and will work as a residual spray on the sidewalk, outside of home, and window and other outside surfaces to keep home-invading insects away. Before applying, test in an area not easily seen and recheck in a couple of hours to see if the home has stained.
