Keith's Pro Tips

"When draining oil from the engine with the engine is in need of an oil change, the oil drains out better when the engine is warm so you might want to run the engine for a little while before draining."

Engines

The engine is the heart of a pesticide spraying rig. If you don't have a powerful engine to keep your sprayer running, pest control jobs will be tough to carry out. The engine allows for the pump to run, pressure to build and the sprayer to work at it's optimum levels, so it is important to use a high-quality engine that won't let you down while you are out on the field.

User Guide

Honda On/Off Switch

Step 1: Pre-Operation Check

Prior to operating the engine on a spray application. It is best to first check the fluid levels and other important components on the Honda GX engine you have. This includes the engine oil, reduction gear oil (if equipped on your engine model), the air cleaner and the fuel levels. Be sure to check the owner's manual for a detaied look and breakdown of your engine to see how to properly inspect and operate your engine.

Step 2: Start The Engine

To start the engine, first turn the fuel lever to the ON position and the choke lever to the CLOSE position. Next, move the throttle lever about 1/3 of the way toward the MAX position.

For recoil start engines, turn the engine switch to the ON position, and then pull the recoil starter cord.

For electric start engines, turn the engine switch to the START position and hold it there until the engine starts.

Step 3: Operate the Engine

As the engine warms up, you can then gradually move the choke lever to the OPEN position and position the throttle level to your desired engine speed. If restarting a warm engine, leave the lever in the ON postion.

When you are complete or need to stop on an emergency, turn the engine switch to the OFF position and then move the throttle fully to the right. Then finally turn the fuel valve to the OFF position.

Inspection and Maintenance

Honda Engine Maintenance

If you want your Honda GX engine to last you for the long haul, keeping a maintenance schedule and consistently sticking to it will keep your engine working in good operating condition for years.

Some of the regular maintenance tasks to carry out for the Honda GX engine include: oil change, air cleaner service, sediment cup cleaning, spark plug service and carburetor adjustment. Check the owner's manual for detailed instructions on how to perform each maintenance task.
