Vastlan Herbicide
Vastlan Herbicide
Vastlan Herbicide is a powerful tool for controlling tough broadleaf weeds in various settings.
Vastlan Herbicide, manufactured by DOW/CORTEVA, is a post-emergent herbicide formulated to target and control a wide range of broadleaf weeds in non-crop areas.
Its active ingredient, Triclopyr, eliminates weeds within 10-14 days.
Vastlan Herbicide is a valuable tool for managing broadleaf weeds in non-crop areas effectively.
Tools Needed
Vastlan Herbicide can be used with a backpack sprayer or spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Vastlan Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). To treat range, pasture, and grazed/hayed areas, use 1-2 quarts of Vastlan Herbicide per 20 gallons of water per acre. Refer the label for specific rates.
- Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, add measured amount of Vastlan Herbicide, then pour in the remaining half of water. Close the spray tank and shake until well-mixed.
- Step 3: Ensure even coverage of Vastlan Herbicide until wet, but not to the point of runoff.
Where to Use
Vastlan Herbicide can be used in range and pasture, grasses grown for hay, Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) sites; forest sites, conifer and tree plantations, and Christmas tree plantations; non-crop areas for example, airports, barrow ditches, communication transmission lines or structures, manufacturing and storage sites, electrical power and utility rights-of-way, fencerows, gravel pits, industrial sites, military lands, mining and drilling areas, non-irrigation ditch banks, oil and gas pads, parking lots, petroleum tank farms, pipelines, railroads, roadsides, storage areas, storm water retention areas, substations, unimproved rough turf grasses, vacant lots and other noncrop residential areas, and around farm buildings; natural areas (open space) for example, campgrounds, parks, prairie management, trails and trailheads, recreation areas, wildlife openings and wildlife habitat and management areas and aquatic sites.
When to Use
Apply Vastlan Herbicide when weeds are present on days with calm winds.
Safety Information
Vastlan Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not let people or pets enter treated areas until 24 hours have passed after application.
Special Considerations
Spray may cause temporary damage and growth suppression where contact with conifers occurs; however, injured conifers should recover and grow normally. Over-the-top spray applications can kill pines.

Keith's Pro Tips | "The most effective way to reduce drift potential is to apply large droplets. The best drift management strategy is to apply the largest droplets that provide sufficient coverage and control. Applying larger droplets reduces drift potential, but will not prevent drift if applications are made improperly, or under unfavorable environmental condition." |
