Lovejoy Coupler
Lovejoy coupler is a high-strength coupling used in power transmission to connect two shafts while accommodating misalignment, shock loads, and vibrations with equipment using shaft-driven pumps.
Lovejoy Coupler is a flexible jaw-style shaft couplings designed to connect two rotating shafts while accommodating misalignment, dampening vibrations, and transmitting torque efficiently.
Compared to gear couplings, this type of coupler requires no lubrication, which helps reduce maintenance costs. It's simple three-piece design also helps make this product easier to install for industrial, commercial, and mechanical users.
Lovejoy Coupler effectively handles three types of shaft misalignment: angular, parallel, and axial, which allow roller rigs to operate more efficiently. Capable of handling high torque loads in a compact design.
Tools Needed
You will need an Allen wrench, torque wrench, dial indicator, Allen socket, rubber mallet, micrometer, and straight edge.
How to Use
- Step 1: Verify that the coupling hubs, lovejoy collar, and spider insert match your shaft specifications. Check for damage, dirt, or debris inside the hubs that could cause misalignment. Clean the shaft surfaces and lovejoy collar to remove grease, rust, or debris.
- Step 2: Slide each Lovejoy hub onto its respective shaft. If the fit is tight, gently tap with a rubber mallet (never force it with a hammer). Align the hubs properly so they are facing each other with enough gap for the spider insert. Tighten the set screws lightly for now, but do not fully secure them yet.
- Step 3: If the coupling uses a keyway, insert the key into the shaft slot. Position the Lovejoy collar onto the shaft before installing the coupler.
- Step 4: Position the Lovejoy collar around the coupling to secure the assembly. If the collar has set screws or clamping bolts, lightly tighten them at first to hold the coupler in place.
- Step 5: Fully tighten the set screws on the Lovejoy collar and coupling hubs using the recommended torque values.
- Step 6: Rotate the shafts by hand to ensure smooth movement without resistance or misalignment. Start the equipment slowly and observe for vibrations or unusual noises. If everything runs smoothly, the installation is complete.
Where to Use
The Lovejoy Coupler can be used for shaft-driven pumps that have the same shaft diameter such as the Hypro roller pump.
When to Use
Use this coupling when you need to dampen vibrations in noise-sensitive environments and when you notice your current coupler has become worn out or damaged.
Safety Information
Lovejoy Coupler is safe to use around children and pets when installed according to the product manual instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when using this product.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Special Considerations
Some Lovejoy couplers may experience wear at extreme RPMs.
We do not accept returns on equipment or electronics, all sales are final. We do this to ensure that the products we send out are brand new, never opened, and fully operational for our customers to ensure the packages are covered by their respected manufacturer's warranties.
