The Hypro 6500XL-R Silver Series 6-Roller Pump is manufactured by Pentair/Hypro and is used on pesticide spray rigs. The purpose of Hypro roller pumps is spraying large volumes of harsh chemicals at the proper pressure to get the job done. The Hypro 6500XL-R can deliver a maximum pressure of 300 psi and a maximum flow of 21.8 gpm. The 6500XL-R is made with a solid stainless steel shaft and components which ensure thousands of hours of trouble-free spraying. If you are spraying large volumes of herbicides and need a new roller pump, this is the pump for you. 

Tools Needed

To use the Hypro 6500XL-R Silver Series Roller Pump you will need to install it onto a pesticide spraying rig. For this, you will need an adjustable crescent wrench, the base plate (sold separately), two Lovejoy couplets and a pressure regulator. You will also need a strainer to catch any debris.

How to Use

• Step 1: Following system installation instructions that come with the Hypro 6500XL-R Silver Series Roller Pump service manual, install the roller pump to your pesticide spraying rig system. The Pump hooks up to the gas engine via 2 Lovejoy couplets and you will need to mount it on a base plate which will hold it onto the frame then configure plumbing.
• Step 2: Start the pump by turning on the main power switch to start the motor. Make sure the pump is primed before proceeding and adjust the pressure to reach your desired spray output.
• Step 3: Prime the pump by making sure all connections are tight and do not leak air. Also, make sure the strainer line is free of debris. If the pump does not self-prime, disconnect the suction hose, fill it with water and reconnect it to the liquid source. A squirt of oil into the pump ports will help to prime by sealing clearances.
• Step 4: Shutdown the pump by decreasing RPM until the pump comes to a stop and then close all valves in the system. After every application, flush the pump with a cleaning solution that will neutralize the liquid pump then flush it with a 50-50 solution of car antifreeze and water to prevent corrosion. Turn the shaft several times to drawl the protective liquid through the pump to coat the entire inner surface and then drain the pump and plug the ports to keep air out.

The Hypro 6500XL-R Silver Series Roller Pump can be used on power sprayers and pesticide spraying rigs and is the heart of the sprayer. It is ideal for turf applications, perimeter spraying or termite work.

When to Use

Use the Hypro 6500XL-R Silver Series Roller Pump when you need to replace an older Roller Pump that has lost pressure on your power sprayer or spraying rig.

Special Considerations

Never pump corrosive or abrasive liquids as these will cause rapid wear or deterioration of body, rotor, shaft, and seals in the pump. The pump should be used only with liquids compatible with pump component materials. Never exceed maximum specified rpm and pressure. Never run the pump dry.
