Hypro 6500C-R Roller Pump
Hypro 6500C-R Roller Pump
The Hypro 6500C-R Roller Pump is manufactured by Pentair/Hypro and is an important part of pesticide spray rigs. The purpose of Hypro roller pumps to transfer a variety of fluids for pest control and lawn care applications. The Hypro 6500C-R has the ability to deliver a max flow of 21.8 GPM and a max pressure of 300 PSI. Constructed with cast-iron and stainless steel, they are durable and built to last. The Hypro 6500C-R comes on our Solutions custom-built spray rigs but are sold separately when you need to replace a pump for your rig.
Tools Needed
To use the Hypro 6500C-R Roller Pump you will need to install it onto a pesticide spraying rig. For this, you will need a base plate (sold separately), two Lovejoy couplets and a pressure regulator. You will also need a strainer to catch any debris.
How to Use
- Step 1: Following system installation instructions that come with the Hypro 6500C-R Roller Pump service manual, install the roller pump to your pesticide spraying rig system. The Pump hooks up to the gas engine via 2 Lovejoy couplets and you will need to mount it on a base plate which will hold it onto the frame then configure plumbing.
- Step 2: Prime the pump by making sure all connections are tight and do not leak air. Also, make sure the strainer line is free of debris. If the pump does not self-prime, disconnect the suction hose, fill it with water and reconnect it to the liquid source. A squirt of oil into the pump ports will help to prime by sealing clearances.
- Step 3: After every application, flush the pump with a cleaning solution that will neutralize the liquid pump then flush it with a 50-50 solution of car antifreeze and water to prevent corrosion. Turn the shaft several times to drawl the protective liquid through the pump to coat the entire inner surface and then drain the pump and plug the ports to keep air out.
Where to Use
The Hypro 6500C-R Roller Pump can be used on power sprayers and pesticide spraying rigs and is essentially the heart of the sprayer. It can be used as part of a spraying rig on industrial sites, residential areas or agricultural settings.
When to Use
Use the Hypro 6500C-R Roller Pump when you need to replace an older Roller Pump that has lost pressure on your power sprayer or spraying rig. This is a great pump for applications requiring high volume, but not necessarily high pressure.
Safety Information
The Hypro 6500C-R Roller Pump is safe to install and operate when done so by following the service manual instructions. Use the proper PPE (gloves, long-sleeved clothing) when operating and maintaining the roller pump.
Special Considerations
Never pump corrosive or abrasive liquids as these will cause rapid wear or deterioration of body, rotor, shaft, and seals in the pump. The pump should be used only with liquids compatible with pump component materials. Never exceed maximum specified rpm and pressure. Never run the pump dry. Failure to follow this warning will void the product warranty.

Q:I have Hypro 6000c-r gone bad. Should I replace with hypro 6500c-r? The shaft size is 5/8" and 1.5 " long flat on one side , no key.4/4/24A:Yes you will need the "r" version if connected to a gas engine. The 6500 does not come with a key and I cannot find anything that will work. I simply crank down the set screw to the flat spot on shaft and that's it. 200-300 hours work time and they die

Q:I’m replacing a hypro 6500 C that runs off my pto. Will it fit on the Pto like the 6500c?5/21/23A:Yes, it should work with no problem. You will need to remove the PTO coupler from your old pump and install it on the new pump. It is not at all difficult. Hope this helps.

Q:Do the fittings coming off the pump to the tank have to be crimped or can you use stand hose clamps? I need to replace the pump, but coming directly off pump is an inline filter. But it's crimped on...2/22/21A:On my rig all the inputs and outputs are brass fittings that screw into the pump. The piece that goes to my filter is a solid piece connected to the brass fitting.
