Headway Fungicide
Headway Fungicide
Headway Fungicide, manufactured by Syngenta, is a professional liquid fungicide that effectively combines the power of two active ingredients azoxystrobin and propiconazole for complete systemic control in turf and landscapes.
Just as its made with two systemic active ingredients, this product has dual modes of action that help to prevent disease resistance and control a broad-spectrum of diseases like brown patch.
Headway Fungicide is made with a quality formulation with little or no odor when applied, making it a sensible option for foliage to be enjoyed for homeowners and golfers. Serves a wider range of application methods than its granular version Headway G Fungicide.
Tools Needed
To apply Headway Fungicide, you will need to use either a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, hose-end sprayer, or spray rig. This product can also be applied with soil injection equipment.
Do not apply this product through any irrigation/chemigation system.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Headway Fungicide you will need to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For use with soil injection applications, use 1.5-3 fl. oz. of Headway Fungicide in 30-150 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Applications in the establishment of turfgrass from seed or in overseeding of dormant turfgrass, apply 0.75-3 fl. oz. of product in 2-4 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. depending on the disease. For spot treatments, use 1.5 fl. oz. of product per 1 to 2 gallons of water. Do not apply more than 8.1 gallons product per acre per year (23.75 fl. oz. product per 1,000 sq. ft. per year). Do not exceed 3 fl. oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. every 30 days on any variety of bermudagrass.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer with half the amount of water, add the specified amount of Headway Fungicide, then pour in the remaining half of water. Maintain a consistent agitation until the product is fully mixed with water and during the application process. Do not allow spray mixture to stand overnight or for prolonged periods.
- Step 3: Spray the Headway Fungicide solution to the top and bottom of foliage leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Do not apply more than two sequential applications of this product for control of gray leaf spot and pythium diseases. For all other diseases when gray leaf spot and pythium diseases are not present, do not apply more than three sequential applications of Headway Fungicide. Irrigate with 0.1 to 0.2 inches within 24 hours after application to facilitate product movement into the root zone.
Where to Use
Headway Fungicide can be used for turf on sod farms. It may also be used for turf on golf courses, lawns and landscape areas around residential, institutional, public, commercial and industrial buildings, parks, recreational areas and athletic fields.
Do not spray this product where spray drift may reach apple trees.
When to Use
Apply Headway Fungicide before disease is present on established foliage. Apply preventatively when mean daily soil temperatures are between 55 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit for newly seeded as well as established turf.
