For beautiful landscapes and ornamental lawns, apply Dithiopyr 40 WSB Pre Emergent Herbicide.
Tools Needed
To apply Dithiopyr 40 WSB, you will need a professional skid sprayer since Dithiopyr 40WSB is meant for large area treatments.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Dithiopyr WSB you need by first calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure and multiply the lawn's length x width. Dithopyr WSB comes in water-soluble pouches. Dithiopyr is really only meant for large areas as 1 5 oz. packet mixed with water can treat 10,890 sq. ft.
- Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with water and then add the appropriate amount of Dithiopyr for your application to the spray tank. Fill the sprayer the rest of the way with the required amount of water and then agitate the sprayer to ensure the product is well-mixed.
- Step 3: Apply the product as a spot treatment to your lawn and make sure the nozzle is pointed as close down to the turf as you can to avoid drift and use a cone fan nozzle spray setting for uniform coverage. Apply to wet and make repeat applications 3 to 4 months apart for extended pre-emergent weed control.
Where to Use
Dithiopyr 40 WSB Pre Emergent Herbicide can be applied to established residential and commercial lawns, commercial sod farms, non-croplands, industrial properties, ornamental plants as well as landscape, field-grown and container materials. When applied to golf courses, Dithiopyr 40 can be applied to fairways, roughs, and tee boxes.
When to Use
Dithiopyr 40 WSB Pre Emergent Herbicide is only effective when applied before the germination of seeds. Apply Dithiopyr 40 WSB during the spring or early summer for Crabgrass control.
Safety Information
Dithiopyr 40 WSB Pre Emergent Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label. Allow treated areas to completely dry before re-entering. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) before mixing or applying Dithiopyr 40 WSB Pre Emergent Herbicide.
Special Considerations
4 5-ounce water-soluble packets come in 1 bag of Dithiopyr 40 WSB Pre Emergent Herbicide. Dithiopyr 40 WSB Pre Emergent Herbicide will not kill targeted weeds after they have emerged from the ground, unless it is being applied to control Crabgrass before the stem begins to form.

Q:Will this control hairy bittercress and poa annua effectively?3/9/20A:The Hairy Bittercress is easy I think. I would say yes. The Poa Annua can be a battle. If you are a hardcore do-it-yourselfer, you might try my procedure. Otherwise, you may want to consult a professional spray company. You can put down Dithiopyr now. In two months you can put down Prodiamine. If you still get any weeds between April and June, you can treat gently with an easy spot spray of Princep (Simizine). You should not need that any more come this time next year. As it begins to cool down at the end of the summer, hit your lawn everywhere, but not too heavy with Tenacity. This will allow you to plant seeds in Early October when it starts to cool but well before it starts to frost overnight (maybe mid to late September. Timing is crucial and you need water at least every other day for at least two to maybe three weeks. Four is perfect but unlikely unless you have irrigation). If you have weeds somehow (you shouldn’t) carefully add another Tenacity treatment. The second one is post emergent. Everything else until now has been pre-emergent except the Princep. You should be good, but if you are really fighting the Kentucky Bluegrass, you can do one more Barricade in late fall/early winter before the ground freezes. If you fail to plan for the end of the year, you may not win the poa battle. It’s hard and expensive and even gets toxic. I wear a spacesuit. Like I said, you may want to hire the pros. Good luck.

Q:Your how to instructions suggest it's Ok to open the packets and measure out the needed amount of Dithiopyr WSB, is that accepted practice when less than a full packet is needed ? "You will want to mix 0.46 oz of the product in 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft"10/7/19A:Yes you can do this. From personal experience: The packets are water degradable, therefore wear gloves so moisture from your hands don't make this any more difficult. Product is a very fine so do this where there isn't any air flow. Be very careful not to breathe any in. Could be a messy process if you're not careful.

Q:I need for 2000 Sq ft. How much is each packet in oz? Can I open each packet and weigh if I need to or do I drop a packet in a sprayer if water soluble? I had the same from DoMyOwn site but each packet was more than I needed for 1000 Sq ft but the instructions say to drop each packet in a sprayer.5/15/19A:Each packet weighs 5 ounces. You need 1/10 of a packet for 2000 sq ft or .5 ounces. Don’t know how to tell you how to get that amount without opening the packet and weighing. Make sure you read the label
