Diquat SPC 2L Herbicide
Diquat SPC 2L Herbicide
Diquat SPC 2L Aquatic Herbicide, manufactured by Nufarm, is a specially formulated herbicide that controls tough aquatic and land weeds in public waters, landscapes, and commercial greenhouses and nurseries.
This broad-spectrum product offers quick control over emerged weeds like coontail upon contact and spreads quickly throughout areas with water to treat floating and sumerged weeds.
Diquat SPC 2L Aquatic Herbicide is a easy to use liquid herbicide that makes application effortless and safer with its ability to be inactive in soil. With this product, residential and commercial property owners have complete broadleaf, grassy, and aquatic weed control within 24 to 36 hours after application.
Tools Needed
To apply Diquat SPC 2L Aquatic Herbicide, you will need to use a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, airboat, helicopter, spray rig, or similar equipment.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Diquat SPC 2L Aquatic Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment of the treatment area. For land applications, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For water site applications, calculate the surface area by measuring (in feet) the surface length and the width and then dividing by 43,560 to get the surface acreage. For spot applications on noncrop or nonplanted areas on farms and in commercial greenhouses and nurseries, use 1-2 quarts of Diquat SPC 2L Aquatic Herbicide plus the labeled rate of a 75% or greater nonionic surfactant per 100 gallons water or 0.75 oz. of product plus the labeled rate of 75% or greater nonionic surfactant per 1 gallon of water. For broadcast applications on noncrop or nonplanted areas of farms, apply 1-2 pints of product in 15 gallons of water per acre. To make spot applications in labeled aquatic sites, use 2 quarts of product per 100 gallons of water (add 1 quart to 1 gallon of a 0.25-1.0% v/v approved aquatic wetting agent per 100 gallons of water). Broadcast applications to dormant established turfgrass (Bermudagrass, Zoysiagrass), use 1-2 pints of product in 20 to 100 gallons of water per acre plus a nonionic surfactant at the manufacturer’s specified rate per 100 gallons of spray mixture. For spot applications to landscape, industrial, recreational, commercial, residential, and public areas, apply 1-2 quarts of product plus a nonionic surfactant at the manufacturer’s specified rate per 100 gallons of water. For small spray applications to landscape, industrial, recreational, commercial, residential, and public areas, mix 0.75 oz. of product with the appropriate amount of the nonionic surfactant in 1 gallon of water. Refer to the label for specific application rates and instructions.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, then add measured amount of Diquat SPC 2L Aquatic Herbicide, then pour in the remaining half of water. Close the sprayer tank lid and shake until the solution is well-mixed.
- Step 3: Adjust the sprayer nozzle to a fan spray setting then spray the top and bottom of weeds until wet, but not to the point of runoff. For water bodies containing weeds, simply spray any weeds that emerge on top of the water to the point of wet, but not runoff. To treat submersed weeds in water, apply this product in an invert emulsion carrier with weighted hoses that injects the diluted spray solution near the bottom. Only treat 1/3 to 1/2 of the water body area at one time. If a repeat application is required to water bodies, wait for 14 days.
Where to Use
Use Diquat SPC 2L Aquatic Herbicide in the following sites: preharvest aid to desiccate labeled crops to facilitate harvesting, labeled nonbearing crops, noncrop or nonplanted areas on farms, aquatic areas, commercial greenhouses and nurseries, dormant established turfgrass (bermudagrass, zoysiagrass – nonfood or feed crop), landscape, industrial, recreational, commercial, residential, and public areas, ornamental seed crops (flowers, bulbs, etc. – excluding the state of California), and turf renovation (all turf areas except commercial sod farms).
Do not allow sprays to come in contact with or drift to, foliage of ornamental plants or food crops.
When to Use
Apply Diquat SPC 2L Aquatic Herbicide to newly emerged weeds while actively growing and before they become too large (weeds 1 - 6 inches in height are easiest to control). Optimum control of submersed aquatic weeds is obtained by applying this product when the weeds are actively growing (photosynthesizing), typically when water temperatures are about 50 degrees Fahrenheit or more, (this occurs usually in the spring or early summer).
If weeds have been mowed or grazed (removing much of the green foliage) be sure to allow weeds to regrow to a height of 2 - 4 inches before application. For harvest aid applications, refer to the specific crop instructions below for application timing specifications.
Avoid application to muddy water or disturbing the water during application that reduce weed control.
