Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide
Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide
Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide is specifically crafted to effectively target and control broadleaf weeds in both cool-season and warm-season turfgrasses.
Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide, manufactured by PBI Gordon, delivers selective control of broadleaf weeds in both warm-season and cool-season turfgrass such as Burmudagrass and Zoysiagrass.
Crafted with a combination of three unique ingredients, Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide is effective in managing a wide range of broadleaf weeds, including dandelion and clover.
Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide is a great alternative in situations where state or municipal regulations limit or restrict the use of 2,4-D products.
Tools Needed
To use Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide, you will need either a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or a spray rig for larger broadcast treatments.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Do this by measuring the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage.) For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Mix rates will vary depending on the type of turgrass and the target weed. For broadcast treatments on ornamental lawns, ornamental turfgrass, golf courses, and sod farms, mix 3.0 to 4.0 pints of Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide in 20 to 240 gallons of water per acre. For spot treatments on all sites except bentgrass turf, use 1.5 oz. fl. oz. of product in 5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For bentgrass turf, apply no more than 1 fl. oz. of product in 5 gallons of water per 1,500 sq. ft. Refer to the label for specific rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Once you have the correct mix rate calculated, add half of the required amount of water to the tank in your selected sprayer. Then add the needed amount of Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide. Once complete, add the remaining half of water, seal tank, and agitate well before use. Continually agitate while spraying.
- Step 3: Apply the Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide evenly to the top and bottom of weed leaves, but not to the point of runoff. Do not use this product on or near desirable plants, including contact of spray on exposed root systems or adventitious shoots within the drip line of desirable trees and shrubs, since injury may result. The maximum number of spot treatments is limited to 2 per year with a minimum of 30 days between applications.
Where to Use
Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide can be used on established turf of warm season grasses that include bermudagrass, bahiagrass, and zoysiagrass. Established turf of cool season grasses include, but are not limited to, Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, tall fescue, and turf-type tall fescues.
Do not apply this product on carpetgrass, dichondra or established turf containing desirable clovers.
When to Use
Apply Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide when unwanted weeds have emerged and are actively growing from spring to early fall. Applications should not be made when rainfall is expected to occur for the next 48 hours after application.
Do not broadcast when air temperatures exceed 90°F; some injury may be expected with spot treatments when air temperatures exceed 90°F.
Safety Information
Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets to enter treated areas until 48 hours have passed after application.
Special Consideration
Postpone the application of the Trimec Encore Broadleaf Herbicide to newly seeded lawns, as it may cause harm. Wait until the lawn is well-established or has undergone two or three mowings before applying.
Some injury can be expected to turf when used on centipedegrass or St. Augustinegrass; only spot spray weeds on these types of grasses.
Slight turf yellowing will disappear after about one week.
