Triad Select Herbicide, manufactured by Prime Source LLC, is an easy-to-use post-emergent herbicide meant to eliminate the toughest broadleaf weeds, such as dandelions and henbit.

Its flexible application rate allows Triad Select Herbicide to mix with other liquid fertilizers or liquid iron materials. It is ideal for use on turf grass applications, non-crop areas, and golf courses.

Triad Select features three selective herbicides (with an active ingredient of dimethylamine salt of 2,4-D 30.89%, dimethylamine salt of MCPA 8.23%, and dimethylamine salt of dicamba 2.77%) for fast and effective weed elimination. After application, Triad Select Herbicide moves through the targeted plant, causing weed stems to curl and twist, leading to the death of the weed.

Tools Needed

You must mix the product into a sprayer of your choosing, such as a backpack, hose-end, or hand-pump sprayer. For the average job, a hand-pump gallon sprayer works best.

How to Use

Spraying Turf

  • Step 1: Determine how much Triad Select Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For general turf and ornamental applications, you will apply 1.1 to 1.5 fl. oz of Triad Select Herbicide per gallon of water per 1,000 sq. For acreage, you will apply 4 pints of Triad Select Herbicide per 220 gallons of water per acre; no more than 10 pints of this product can be used per year. Higher volumes of water may be used when mixed with a turf fertilizer. Follow fertilizer labels for the proper amount of water to add. Refer to the label for specific rates.
  • Step 2: Add half of the measured water to the spray tank for a pump sprayer or backpack sprayer application, then add the appropriate amount of Triad Select Herbicide and fill the rest of the way with water. Agitate until the spray mixture is even.
  • Step 3: Adjust your spray nozzle setting to low pressure and apply an even application of the spray mixture to target areas until completely wet, but not to the point of runoff.

Where to Use

Triad Select Herbicide may be used on warm and cool-seasoned grasses on ornamental turf lawns (residential, industrial, and institutional), parks, cemeteries, athletic fields, golf courses, fairways, sod farms, and non-cropland areas including roadsides (aprons, guardrails, airports, and industrial sites).

It cannot be used near greenhouses or non-cropland areas where commercial timber and plants are being grown for sale or in areas for other commercial uses such as research or seed production.

When to Use

This product can be applied anytime in the year, but it is best to use it when weeds are actively growing in the spring, the grass is out of dormancy, and rainfall is not predicted within 4 hours after application. Apply on calm, warm days when temperatures are about 50 degrees Fahrenheit or more (usually in the Spring or early Summer). Spray on a day when it is not windy to reduce the chances of drift.

Remember that for turf applications, you cannot mow the area 1 to days prior to or after application.

Safety Information

Triad Select Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying or mixing solutions.

Wait at least 48 hours before allowing people or pets to enter treated areas. Do not apply within 25 feet of rivers, fish ponds, lakes, streams, reservoirs, marshes, estuaries, bays, and oceans.

Special Considerations

Triad Select Herbicide is limited to two applications per site per year. You cannot make more than one application per year for woody plants.

Be careful to avoid treating newly seeded grass, as it may permanently damage the turf. Do not spray the roots of new or established trees and ornamental plants, as it may also cause permanent damage.
