Telar XP Herbicide, manufactured by Bayer, is a water-dispersable granule herbicide that stands out for its selective and long-lasting control of invasive and noxious broadleaf weeds in non-crop areas, fencerows, and more.

This pre- and post-emergent herbicide is distinguished by its active ingredient chlorsulfuron, which offers both foliar activity and short-term residual control, making it a valuable tool for vegetation management. Achieves effective control at low application rates, reducing the chemical load on treated areas.

Telar XP Herbicide offers effective and selective control of invasive and noxious broadleaf weeds. Its residual activity, compatibility with desirable grasses, and flexibility in application timing make it a valuable tool for maintaining healthy pastures, rangelands, and non-crop areas.

Tools Needed

A handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig can be used.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Telar XP Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For spot applications, apply 0.11 oz. of Telar XP Herbicide per 0.3 to 3 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For pastures, rangelands, Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) use 1/4 to 1 oz. of product per 20 to 40 gallons of water per acre. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
  • Step 2: Fill the sprayer with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the sprayer tank and agitate until well-mixed.
  • Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of weed leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff.

Where to Use

Telar XP Herbicide can be used in pasture, range, Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) lands, and non-crop industrial sites, including grazed areas on these sites. These non-crop industrial sites include, industrial sites, banks of dry drainage ditches, airports, military installations, fence rows, roadsides and associated rights-of-way, lumberyards, petroleum tank farms, pipeline and utility rights-ofway, pumping installations, railroads, storage areas, and plant sites, including governmental and private lands.

Do not use on lawns, walks, driveways, tennis courts, or similar areas.

When to Use

Apply when weeds are actively growing.

For control of perennial weeds, the best results are obtained when weeds are treated in the bud to bloom or fall rosette stage.

Do not apply to turf less than 1 year old.

Safety Information

Telar XP Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area until sprays have dried.

Special Considerations

Grass seed may be planted in treated areas 6 months after treatment; cultivation is recommended.

Keith's Pro Tips"Always perform a jar test to insure the compatibility of products to be used in tank mixture with Telar XP Herbicide. Use a clear jar with lid and mix the tank mix ingredients in their relative proportions. The tank mixture is compatible if the materials mix readily when the jar is inverted several times. The mixture should remain stable after standing for 1/2 hour or, if separation occurs, should readily mix if agitated. An incompatible mixture is indicated by separation into distinct layers that do not readily remix when agitated and/or the presence of flakes, precipitates, gels, or heavy oily film on the jar."
Product DrawbacksInjury to or loss of desirable trees or other plants may result if equipment is drained or flushed on or near desirable trees or other plants, on areas where their roots may extend.
