Tebuthiuron 80WG Herbicide, manufactured by Alligare, is a non-selective herbicide used to control various types of vegetation.

Depending on the time of year it is applied, Tebuthiuron 80WG Herbicidie will control targeted vegetation before it grows by killing the seedlings or after growth by attacking the roots.

Tebuthiuron 80WG Herbicide is ideal for use around construction and utility sites to provide cleared ground for up to 6 months. The active ingredient, Tebuthiuron stops the process of nutrients being supplied to the plant causing it to die.

Tools Needed

Tebuthiuron 80WG Herbicide can be applied with a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or skid sprayer.

How to Use

Spraying Herbicide

  • Step 1: Determine how much Tebuthiuron 80WG Herbicide you will need by measuring the square footage or acreage of the treatment area. To do this, measure (in feet) the area length times the width and multiply the two values (length x width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage calculated and divide by 43,560. (Square footage /43,560 = Acreage). Tebuthiuron 80WG Herbicide can be mixed from 1 lb to 7.5 lb per acre depending on the weed being treated. For low volume applications mix 1 pound of Alligare Tebuthiuron 80WG Herbicide in enough water to make 1 gallon of solution.
  • Step 2: Fill the spray tank halfway with water, and begin the agitation period during this step if the application is being made with a skid sprayer. Add the required amount of Tebuthiuron 80 WG based on your calculations. Add the rest of the required amount and agitate the sprayer and you will be ready to apply.
  • Step 3: Make applications in desired areas. We suggest making applications close to the ground as this product does not work by making contact with the leaves or foliage. It works through making contact with the root system and around where stems touch the soil.

Where to Use

Tebuthiuron 80WG Herbicide is ideal to use on industrial properties, land areas with utility equipment, fence lines, permanent pasture lands, non-cropland areas and other areas that required bare ground for up to 6 months. It is not recommended to use near wanted trees or vegetation.  Do not apply Tebuthiuron 80WG to walkways, driveways, streets, lawns, patios, tennis courts, swimming pools, cemeteries, or other landscaped areas, or under asphalt or concrete pavement where landscaping is planned for the future.

When to Use

Tebuthiuron 80WG Herbicide is a pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicide, which means it is ideal to apply during the spring months when vegetation has grown or before new seeds have sprouted. We recommend making applications during calm weather and right before it rains. Wind can cause product drift, and the rain will ensure it seeps deep in the ground reaching the roots. Tebuthiuron 80WG should not be applied when the ground is frozen or is flooded.

Safety Information

Tebuthiuron 80WG Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when used according to the product label. Always wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and making applications. If it is applied on the ground near wanted vegetation, it can cause serious injury or death.

Special Considerations

Tebuthiuron 80WG works through the root system and does not work through the leaves or stem. If the product is applied in the general area of wanted plants or trees, it can still reach long-distance roots and cause serious damage.

  2. Q:I need something to kill hedge bushes?
    6/5/18
A:Yes it will. But I feel a better solution would be Spike 20p. You can just sprinkle the pellets around the roots and it will kill the plant after you water the pellets into the soil
