Talstar One Insecticide by FMC Corporation is a powerful insecticide formulated with 7.9% bifenthrin, designed for controlling a wide range of pests indoors and outdoors on residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial sites. This broad-spectrum insecticide is effective against ants, fleas, mosquitoes, ticks, spiders, cockroaches, and many other common pests, providing up to one month of residual control for house flies and up to three months for fleas.

The product comes as a ready-to-mix liquid (beige color, mild odor, 8.53 lb/gal density), soluble in water for convenient application using various sprayers or tank-mix systems. Talstar One offers versatility for use on lawns, ornamentals, shade trees, turfgrass, and in animal confinement facilities, greenhouses, and food/feed handling establishments (with certain restrictions).

Tools Needed

To apply Talstar One Insecticide, use a backpack sprayer, hand-held pump sprayer, hose-end sprayer, skid sprayer, or power sprayer depending on the size of the area. For soil trenching or sub-slab treatments, tools like shovels, trenching hoes, or drill equipment with masonry bits may be required to create entry points for application. Protective gloves and clothing, and safety goggles are recommended personal protective equipment (PPE) during handling.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Measure the treatment area to calculate the needed amount of Talstar One. Dilution rates vary by use: for example, mix 0.33 to 1.0 fluid ounces of Talstar One per gallon of water for perimeter treatments, or higher rates for heavy infestations or longer control. Refer to the product’s dilution chart for precise mixing instructions.
  • Step 2: Fill half the spray tank with water, add the calculated amount of Talstar One, then add the remaining water. Shake or agitate well to ensure thorough mixing.
  • Step 3: Apply the spray evenly to target areas such as lawns, soil, vegetation, exterior building surfaces (up to 3 feet high), and pest harborages. For cracks, crevices, and voids, apply as a spot or crack and crevice treatment. Follow label directions closely to avoid runoff and overapplication.
  • Step 4: For post-treatment care, do not allow children or pets to enter treated areas until the spray is fully dry. In outdoor use, avoid application when rain or strong wind is expected within 24 hours to maintain efficacy and prevent environmental contamination.

Where to Use

Talstar One is suitable for application on ornamental plants, trees, shrubs, turfgrass, lawns, and soils around residential and commercial buildings. It is also authorized for use inside structures in cracks and crevices to treat infestations of crawling pests. Animal confinement facilities, greenhouses, and food/feed handling establishments are included in permitted use sites with required precautions.

Outdoor applications include surfaces such as building foundations, patios, porches, refuse dumps, and soil surrounding structures. Avoid broadcast applications on interior surfaces of homes; use targeted spot or crack and crevice treatments indoors. The product is not for use on greenhouses or nurseries. It should not be applied to food areas in commercial food handling operations, nor on food crops.

When to Use

Use Talstar One proactively as a perimeter termite control before construction or post-construction as needed based on pest presence. It is effective for seasonal pest infestations and general pest prevention. Apply in calm weather conditions without rain in the forecast for at least 24 hours and avoid application on frozen or saturated ground.

Safety Information

Talstar One is harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin, and causes damage to the central nervous system with prolonged or repeated exposure. Use personal protective equipment, including gloves, protective clothing, and eye protection. Do not breathe spray mist or vapor. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and keep treated areas off-limits until dry.

In case of exposure, move to fresh air immediately; for skin contact, wash thoroughly with water; for eye contact, rinse with water and remove contact lenses. If ingested or inhaled with symptoms, seek medical assistance promptly and provide this product information.

Special Considerations

Do not apply Talstar One in a manner that could result in runoff to storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters, or surface waters as it is highly toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Avoid application where bees may forage on blooming crops or weeds. Take care when treating behind veneers or insulated voids. Turn off air circulation systems in crawl spaces and plenums during application until the termiticide has been absorbed.

Talstar One should not be applied directly to pets, food, or drinking water sources. Equipment used for spraying should be triple rinsed after use, and leftover pesticide or containers disposed of according to regulations to prevent environmental contamination.

Talstar One is a trusted insecticide option for both professional applicators and homeowners looking for effective pest control with up to one month residual activity on many pests and longer control of fleas.
