Symmetry NXG Algaecide, manufactured by United Phosphorous, is a superior algaecide that works quickly to remove a broad range of algae species.

Kills surface and sub-surface algae within 14 days giving ponds, freshwater lakes, and other slow-moving water bodies a more aesthetic appearance on water. This algaecide features a Copper Triethanolamine Complex 26.49%, which allows the product to stay longer in aquatic sites with lower rates of copper being released.

Symmetry NXG Algaecide is a great liquid algaecide that offers better algae control and clears water areas more for increased vascular plant control for other products.

Tools Needed

To apply Symmetry NXG Algaecide, you will need to use either a land-based sprayer like a backpack sprayer or spray boat.

Weighted trailing hoses are required for subsurface applications.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Measure the size and depth of body of water to determine how much Symmetry NXG Algaecide you will need. To determine acre-feet volume, measure the length, width, and depth of the waterbody, and then divide by 43,560 (length x width x depth / 43,560 = acre-feet). Control of free floating genera is obtained at rates equivalent to 0.2 to 0.5 ppm metallic copper. This can be done by mixing 0.7 or 1.7 gallons of Symmetry NXG Algaecide per surface acre of quiescent or slow moving waters. To get rid of mat-forming algae and hard to control genera such as Chara and Phormidium, use a 0.5 to 1.0 ppm metallic copper rate by mixing 1.7 or 3.4 gallons of product per surface acre of quiescent or slow moving waters. Refer to the label for more specific application rates.
  • Step 2: Spray Symmetry NXG Algaecide evenly across the surface of the water from a boat or from shore. Subsurface applications must be done in way that allows the product to be released near algae. Avoid dragging the hoses on the bottom of water. Large mats of floating algae must be removed prior to treatment, and a second application at least 2 weeks following the initial treatment are required in areas of dense algae growth.

Where to Use

Symmetry NXG Herbicide can be used on fresh water lakes, potable water reservoirs, ponds (including golf course ponds), fish hatcheries, irrigation canals, laterals, and ditches and other such slow moving or quiescent bodies of water.

Do not allow sprays to drift over crops, ornamentals, grass or other desirable plants.

When to Use

Apply Symmetry NXG Algaecide at the first appearance of algae and when water temperatures are above 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

Safety Information

Symmetry NXG Algaecide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Water treated with this product can be used immediately for recreational activities, for drinking, for watering livestock, and for irrigation of crops, golf courses, ornamental plantings, and turf areas.

This product is toxic to fish and other aquatic invertebrates. The risk of fish toxicity generally decreases as the hardness of the water increases.

Special Considerations

Symmetry NXG can be tank mixed with products containing the active ingredients, copper, fluridone, diquat and endothall, to improve aquatic weed control.

To avoid excessive oxygen depletion and fish kill, treat no more than 1/2 of the water body at one time. Do not apply more than required for the treatment area, and allow at least 14 days before making application to the remaining portion of the water body.

Avoid trapping fish between the shoreline and treatment areas by treating from the shore outward toward deeper, untreated water.
