*This product is a restricted use pesticide and must have a certified applicator license to be able to purchase.
Surmount Herbicide, manufactured by DOW/CORTEVA, is a effective post-emergence herbicide designed to control broadleaf weeds in rangelands, pastures, and around farm buildings.
Its active ingredients picloram 13.24% and fluroxypyr 10.64%, work together to target weeds such as dogfennel, curly dock, and morningglory while being gentle on forage grasses.
Surmount is an outstanding alternative for areas where 2,4-D use is restricted or where a non-2,4-D option is desired. This unique product also provides preemergence control against weeds that emerge after application.
Tools Needed
Surmount Herbicide can be applied with a backpack sprayer or spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Surmount Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). General applications will use 3-6 pints of Surmount Herbicide per 5 gallons of water per acre. Refer the label for specific application rates.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, add measured amount of Surmount Herbicide, then pour in the remaining half of water. Close the spray tank lid and shake the solution is well-mixed.
- Step 3: Ensure even coverage of the treatment area.
Where to Use
Surmount Herbicide can be used in rangeland and permanent grass pastures, conservation reserve program (CRP) acres, fencerows, non-irrigation ditchbanks, and around farm buildings.
When to Use
Treat with Surmount Herbicide when weeds are actively growing and not stressed by drought or other conditions.
Delay foliar brush applications until target species are fully leafed out and actively growing and are not stressed by drought or other conditions.
Safety Information
Surmount Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets enter treated areas until sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
Do not use on alfalfa, or other desirable forbs, especially legumes such as clover, unless injury or loss of such plants can be tolerated. Seeding of some legumes may not be successful if done within one year of application.
