SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket
SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket
The SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket is made by B&G Equipment and it is used in the wands of the B&G Prime Line Sprayers. The SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket is located at the front of the wand right behind the tip assembly. There are two major problems that can occur when the SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket is worn, damaged or dirty. The first problem is the tank holds pressure, but there is no spray from the nozzle. This normally happens with an older unit. The second problem is the extension or wand is leaking at the tip. Replacing this part will alleviate any spray leaks and helps your sprayer to function like normal.
Tools Needed
To remove and replace the SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket you will need gloves and 2 adjustable wrenches to properly loosen the tip assembly.
How to Use
- Step 1: Following the manufacturer instructions, detach the valve and extension from the hose. Carefully remove the mesh strainer and squeeze the trigger to drain all the liquid from the valve.
- Step 2: Remove the tip and nozzle assembly from the end of the extension wand, which will take the use of two wrenches to loosen. You will need to use one wrench to hold the extension and the second wrench to loosen the tip assembly. Once you remove the tip assembly, the soft seat gasket will simply fall down. Inspect the SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket to determine if replacing or cleaning is needed.
- Step 3: When placing the SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket back into the wand, you will need to make sure it is facing the correct way. The extruding part or the part that shows the black gasket will need to face the seat stem. The flat portion of the seat gasket will face the tip assembly. To make installation easy you will need to press the trigger to retract the seat stem into the extension, then attach the tip and nozzle. Then tighten the tip by using 2 wrenched one to hold the extension and the second to tighten the tip assembly.
- Step 4: Once reassembled, test out the sprayer by adding clean water into the tank and doing a test spray to check for any further leaks or drips.
Where to Use
The SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket is used in the B&G Sprayer Wands with the extenda-ban valve. It is located behind the tip assembly.
When to Use
The SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket is replaced when it becomes damaged or worn. This can be indicated by the tip leaking or dripping constantly.
Safety Information
Make sure to always work with a clean B&G tank and never with a tank full of chemicals. The soft seat gasket is safe to use when applied according to the label directions. Keep out of reach of pets or small children as it is small and can be a choking hazard.
Special Considerations
This part is specifically for the Extenda-Ban Valve model of B&G sprayers. It will not fit with the Ban-Drip valve or XR valve.
