The SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket, manufactured by B&G Equipment, is used in the wands of the B&G Prime Line Sprayers. The SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket is located at the front of the wand, right behind the tip assembly.

Two major problems can occur when the SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket is worn, damaged, or dirty. The first problem is that the tank holds pressure, but there is no spray from the nozzle. This normally happens with an older unit. The second problem is the extension or wand is leaking at the tip. Replacing this part will alleviate any spray leaks and help your sprayer to function normally.

Tools Needed

To remove and replace the SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket you will need gloves and 2 adjustable wrenches to loosen the tip assembly properly.

How to Use

Replacing B&G Soft Seat Gasket

  • Step 1: Following the manufacturer's instructions, detach the valve and extension from the hose. Carefully remove the mesh strainer and squeeze the trigger to drain all the liquid from the valve.
  • Step 2: Remove the tip and nozzle assembly from the end of the extension wand, which will require two wrenches to loosen. One wrench will hold the extension, and the second wrench will loosen the tip assembly. Once you remove the tip assembly, the soft seat gasket will fall. Inspect the SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket to determine if replacement or cleaning is needed.
  • Step 3: When placing the SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket back into the wand, you must ensure it is facing the correct way. The extruding part or the part that shows the black gasket will need to face the seat stem. The flat portion of the seat gasket will face the tip assembly. To make installation easy, you must press the trigger to retract the seat stem into the extension, then attach the tip and nozzle. Then, tighten the tip using 2 wrenches, one to hold the extension and the second to tighten the tip assembly.
  • Step 4: Once reassembled, test out the sprayer by adding clean water into the tank and doing a test spray to check for further leaks or drips.

Where to Use

The SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket is used in the B&G Sprayer Wands with the extenda-ban valve. It is located behind the tip assembly.

When to Use

The SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket is replaced when it becomes damaged or worn. The tip leaking or dripping constantly can indicate this.

SP-159 Soft Seat Gasket is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product manual instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when using this product.
