Snake-A-Way
Snake-A-Way
Snake-A-Way is an easy to use granular repellent that works effectively to keep the toughest venomous and non-venomous snakes away homes, cabins, gardens, and more.
Snake-A-Way, manufactured by Woodstream, is a patented humane snake repellent that works effectively on both poisonous and non-poisonous snakes for up to 2-3 months after application.
This quality granule snake repellent contains a unique blend of sulfur and naphthalene, which works together to temporarily disrupt the snakes sensory receptors without harm. This successfully disorients the snake, causing it to slither away from the property in search of fresh air.
Snake-A-Way effectively gets rid of rattlesnakes, garter snakes and other snake species by driving them away from areas where they can potential live, breed, or hunt like yards.
Tools Needed
Snake-A-Way is easy to apply with no tools needed other than a pair of gloves when handling the granules.
How to Use
- Step 1: Wearing gloves, remove the granules from the packaging and lightly sprinkle the granules along the perimeter of the area you want to protect by creating a snake barrier.
- Step 2: Create bands of these granules around your home. For instance, to repel garter snakes spread Snake-A-Way in 4 to 5 inch wide bands. For rattlesnakes, break the granules in 8 to 12 inch wide bands.
- Step 3: Reapply until snakes are no longer a threat to the property. When the odor of Snake-A-Way becomes faint, the product loses its effectiveness. If this occurs during the season where snakes are heavily active, retreat areas with enough product to restore the original odor intensity.
Where to Use
Snake-A-Way can be used around houses, cabins, trailers, garages, barns, trash cans, flowerbeds and anywhere snakes have been sighted. The granules can be spread along areas where snakes like to slither around and explore like wood piles, high brush areas, ground cover, and old logs.
When to Use
Use this product particularly in the Spring when snake activity is at its peak, in the summertime when families are most exposed to the outdoors and in the fall to prevent hibernation. Reapplication may be needed after heavy rainfall.
Safety Information
Snake-A-Way is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying this product.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Special Considerations
Snake-A-Way has a very strong smell so when applying you want to try not to take in a big whiff of it. Also, do not use this product where snakes are believed to already be present since the deterrent effects of the Snake-A-Way may confine them to the treated area.
Snake-A-Way is the exact same as the discontinued Dr. T Snake-A-Way, but made with a different manufacturer.

Q:Does snake away repel copperheads?4/28/23A:While Snake-A-Way might deter other types of snakes as well, it is not expected to consistently repel snakes of the following types: corn snakes and other rat snakes (Genus Elaphe); and “moccasin” snakes such as cottonmouths and copperheads. To get rid of copperhead snakes, check out the products and tips in our DIY guide. https://www.solutionsstores.com/how-to-get-rid-of-copperhead-snakes

Q:can you tell me if it is dangerous to other animals. how exactly does it work. I live in the forest.7/16/17A:No Snake-A-Way is not dangerous to other animals, the Snake-A-Way is a granular compound that works by interacting with a snake's Jacobson's organ, that controls the snake's sense of smell.
