Sahara DG Herbicide
Sahara DG Herbicide
Sahara DG Herbicide, manufactured by BASP, is an easy to apply water-dispersible granule that provides complete burndown and total bareground control of 150 species of annual and perennial grasses, broadleaf weeds and vines.
Sahara DG keeps new weeds from emerging all season long within noncropland areas in a single application. This easy to use product is compatible with drift control agents, and, when used according to label directions, won't impact nearby vegetation - even sensitive crops.
Tools Needed
To use Sahara DG you will need a pump sprayer or backpack sprayer. For larger volume applications, you will need a professional spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: To figure out how much Sahara DG you need, you will need to calculate the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, you would need to measure and multiply length x width to get the total square footage to be treated. For acreage, take the square footage and divide by 43,560. Sahara DG's broadcast rate is 7 to 19 lb., per acre in at least 100 gallons of water per acre. Spot treatments should be done at a rate of 0.5 to 1 lb. in a gallon of water along with an adjuvant to cover 1,000 square feet.
- Step 2: Since Sahara DG is a water dispersible granule, it is important to add the chemical to water. To mix, you will put water in your sprayer, then add the appropriate amount of chemical to the sprayer and shake it up.
- Step 3: Apply the Sahara mixture to the target treatment areas, spraying to wet but not to the point of runoff. It is recommended to use a fan spray pattern for uniform coverage.
Where to Use
Sahara DG Herbicide can be applied to railroads, utility, pipeline and highway rights-of-way, fence rows, farmyards and around farm buildings, non-irrigation ditch banks, and industrial noncropland areas such as utility plant sites, petroleum tank farms, pumping installations and storage areas where bareground is desired.
When to Use
For annual weed control Sahara may be applied either pre-emergently or post-emergently to the weeds. However, a late pre-emergent to early post-emergent application is the method of choice for most situations. Fore perennial weed control, Sahara DG is only effective when applied post-emergently and will not control perennial weeds that have not emerged at the time of application. For maximum activity, weeds should be growing vigorously at the time of postemergence.
Safety Information
Sahara Herbicide is safe for pets and kids when it has been applied properly according to the label and has been given time to dry.
Be sure to wear the proper PPE before mixing and applying Celero (gloves, protective eyewear, particle mask, long sleeve clothing, closed toed shoes). Refer to the label for instructions on treating areas around water and edible vegetation.
