Resolute 65WG Herbicide, manufactured by Syngenta, is a prodiamine based pre-emergent herbicide that efficiently spreads on treated surfaces to target germinating broadleaf and grassy weeds in lawns, landscape ornamentals, and more.

With its active ingredient prodiamine 65.0%, this product can be used at various points in year from spring to fall for full prevention of weeds. As a result, this pre-emergent herbicide is highly effective on new growth of weeds like spurge, crabgrass, and henbit without harming common turf sites like St. Augustinegrass.

Resolute 65WG Herbicide controls over 30 weeds within 14 days after application and continues to protect treated areas for at least 60 days. This non-staining product is flexible enough that it may also be mixed and applied with other fertilizer and iron solutions.

Tools Needed

To apply Resolute 65WG Herbicide, you need to use either a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or spray rig.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Resolute 65WG Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For general applications, use 0.4 fl. oz. of Resolute 65WG Herbicide in 0.5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. To treat turf such as bermudagrass, bahiagrass, centipedegrass, kikuyugrass, seashore paspalum, St. Augustinegrass, tall fescue (including turf-type), and zoysiagrass use 0.36-0.83 oz. of product in 0.5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. or 1.0-2.3 oz. of product in 100 gallons of water per acre. For specific application rates and restrictions refer to the product label.
  • Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, add measured amount of Resolute 65WG Herbicide, then pour in the remaining half of water. Agitate the spray tank until the solution is well-mixed.
  • Step 3: Spray the mixed Resolute 65WG Herbicide across the soil surface until wet, but not to the point of runoff. After application, irrigate treated areas with approximately 1/2 inches of water.

Where to Use

Resolute 65WG Herbicide can be used on established turfgrasses (excluding golf course putting greens), lawns and sod nurseries. Container, field-grown and landscape ornamentals. Conifer and hardwood seedling nurseries. Established perennials and wildflower plantings. Non-crop areas, including plantings on managed rights-of-way for transportation systems and utilities (including, roadways, roadsides, railways and equipment yards). Facilities including substations, tank farms, pumping stations, parking and storage areas, and ungrazed fence rows. It may also be used in Christmas tree farms.

Do not apply to golf course putting greens or to plants that will be consumed for food use.

Do not blend this product onto dry fertilizer or any other granular material.

When to Use

Apply Resolute 65WG Herbicide when weeds are not present on your property, typically the best time to apply is in spring and fall.

Safety Information

Resolute 65WG Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Keep people and pets out of treated areas until 24 hours have passed after application.

Special Considerations

To avoid turfgrass injury, do not apply Resolute 65WG Herbicide to newly set sod until the sod has rooted and exposed edges have filled in.

Disturbing the herbicide barrier with cultural practices such as disking may result in reduced weed control.
