Renovate 3
Renovate 3 is a fast-acting aquatic herbicide designed to control stubborn submerged weeds and other nuisance aquatic vegetation, helping maintain clear, healthy, and easily managed ponds, lakes, and more.
04/03/26
Renovate 3, manufactured by Sepro, is a powerful aquatic herbicide that can control aquatic and terrestrial weeds in ponds, lakes, reservoirs, and other bodies of water with little to no outflow.
Unlike surface-contact products that only burn leaf tissue, this product is absorbed through both roots and leaves, moves systemically throughout the plant, and disrupts growth processes from within, effectively killing weeds down to the root system. This deep, systemic action is essential for fully eliminating stubborn, deep-rooted aquatic weeds that tend to re-sprout repeatedly.
Renovate 3 is a dependable aquatic herbicide for managing invasive and nuisance aquatic plants without sacrificing the health of the entire water body. Whether you’re preventing weed problems before they begin or treating active infestations, it delivers deep, long-lasting control that helps you achieve clearer water, healthier ecosystems, and easier maintenance.
Tools Needed
It can be applied using a variety of application equipment. For small volume application, we suggest using a hand pump sprayer or a backpack sprayer. For large volume application, you can apply using a boom sprayer or even aerial applications.
How to Use
- Step 1: Measure the area you intend to treat. This will determine how much product will need to be mixed and applied. For water sites with less than 4 acres of water, apply 2 quarts of Renovate 3 per acre. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: FIll your sprayer halfway with water. Measure out the required amount of Renovate and add it to your sprayer. If you are using a surfactant measure, mix, and add it to the tank as well, then fill the sprayer with the remaining amount of water. Thoroughly agitate the sprayer and you’re ready to apply.
- Step 3: Spray the product over the desired areas, making sure to get an even coating, especially on the exposed leaves of the plants.
- Step 4 : Reapply as needed, according to label instructions. It is important to follow label directions for applications times and rates, and do not over apply.
Where to Use
Renovate can be applied to bodies of water, such as ponds, small lakes, slow moving streams and reservoirs, for aquatic weeds and invasive species. It can also be applied on land to kill woody plants and weeds on land and near bodies of water, such as swamp and marsh lands.
When to Use
You can apply Renovate during the first signs of weed growth, or during an active infestation. When dealing with invasive species it is most effective when used at the first signs of invasion.
Safety Information
Renovate 3 is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep people and pets out of the treated area for 48 hours after application.
Special Considerations
This product is effective at controlling many invasive species of aquatic weeds, while not harming other plants in the area. If you wish to eliminate all plants in the area, this product may not kill all the plants you want it to. Refer to the label for a list of affected plants.
Under certain conditions, treatment of aquatic weeds can result in oxygen depletion or loss due to decomposition of dead plants, which may contribute to fish suffocation. This loss can cause fish suffocation. Therefore, to minimize this hazard, do not treat more than one-third to one-half of the water area in a single operation and wait at least 10 to 14 days between treatments.
