Prodiamine 4SC Select

Prodiamine 4SC Select, manufactured by Prime Source LLC, is designed to fight against and control weeds germinating underneath established turfgrasses, perennial and wildflower plantings, Christmas tree farms, and many other sites.

This liquid formulation contains prodiamine 40.5%, which prevents root growth and seed germination of young weeds. When applied, Prodiamine 4SC Select will leave a barrier in the soil between 60 to 90 days for effective and excellent pre-emergent weed control making reapplications not as frequent.

Besides its beneficial low-use rates, Prodiamine 4SC Select will continue to fight against weeds without greatly staining your lawn.

Tools Needed

Prodiamine 4SC Select may use a backpack sprayer, pump sprayer, or overhead sprinkler irrigation system. Do not apply this product through any other type of irrigation system.

How to Use

• Step 1: Ensure that your turf has reached a height of at least 3 inches to avoid turf injury. Determine how much Prodiamine 4SC Select to use by calculating the square footage of your treatment area. To find this, measure the length and width of the treatment site in feet and multiply (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre 43,560 (square footage / 43,560 = acre). Typically, you will want to mix 0.5 gallons of Prodiamine 4SC Select per 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Depending on the species of turfgrass, you will want to use between 0.5 to 1.1 oz. of product per gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. The turfgrass application rate for acreage varies from 10 to 48 oz. of product per 20 gallons of water per acre. For specific application rates refer to the label.
• Step 2: Fill the sprayer of your choice with the appropriate amount of clean water, add the measured amount of Prodiamine 4SC Select, and then pour in the remaining half of water. Close the lid to sprayer tank and agitate the tank until the solution is evenly mixed.
• Step 3: Spray the top and underside of targeted weed leaves making sure the nozzle is calibrated at a low pressure with 50-mesh or coarser screens. Reapply 60 days after first application to attain complete control of weeds. Water the treated area with 0.5 inches of irrigation after treated foliage has become dry.

Where to Use

Use Prodiamine 4SC Select in established turfgrasses (except golf course putting greens), lawns, sod nurseries, container ornamentals, field grown ornamentals, landscape ornamentals, conifer and hardwood seedling nursuries, non-crop areas including managed right of way for transportation system and utilities (including roadways, roadsides, railways, equipment yards), facilities including substations, tank farms, substations, pumping stations, parking and storage areas, ungrazed fence rows, established perennial and wildflower plantings, and Christmas tree farms.

This product should not be applied to areas where dichondria, colonial bentgrass, velvet bentgrass or annual bluegrass (Poa Annua) are desirable species. Prodiamine 4SC Select cannot be blended with dry fertilizer or any other granulated materials.

When to Use

Apply Prodiamine 4SC Select during the spring and fall season before weeds emerge in your turf or when weeds have been removed. Apply when your turf or foliage is free from drought, insect, piles of leaves or mulch, heat, weed and disease stress. Once it has reached a mature age and is free from these factors then spray on warm, days where no rainfall or high winds is forecasted for at least 24 hours after treatment.

In areas where the ground freezes for winter, Prodiamine 4SC Select can be applied in the fall after soil temperatures fall below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, but before ground freezes.

Safety Information

Prodiamine 4SC Select is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling or applying this product.

Keep children, pets, and other individuals from entering the treatment area for 24 hours after application.

Do not allow livestock to graze from areas treated with this product and harvest treated sod before 90 days after application.

Special Considerations

As a pre-emergent herbicide, Prodiamine 4SC Select will not eliminate or control weeds already emerged in your turf.

Over the top applications of Prodiamine 4SC Select may injure new growth of desirable plants in the spring, however, these effects are temporary.
