Prime Source Triclopyr 4E Select

Prime Source Triclopyr 4E Select, manufactured by Prime Source LLC, is a high-strength herbicide that delivers fast, effective control of woody plants and broadleaf weeds in turf, forestry, and non-crop areas with long-lasting results.

Because it’s absorbed through both roots and foliage, it works from the inside out delivering systemic action that eliminates weeds completely, not just burning back their leaves. That means longer-lasting results and less regrowth against weeds and woody plants such as elm, poison ivy, oak, and more. 

Prime Source Triclopyr 4E Select is a cost-effective post-emergent herbicide that controls over 30 broadleaf weeds and 60 woody brush species on rangeland, pastures, ornamental turf, and non-crop areas. Its selective mode of action, ability to be absorbed through both roots and foliage, and broad spectrum of targets make it one of the most powerful tools in turf and land management.

Tools Needed

A backpack sprayer, knapsack sprayer, or spray rig will be needed. 

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Prime Source Triclopyr 4E Select to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For spot treatments, apply 1 to 1.5 gallons of Prime Source Triclopyr 4E Select in 100 gallons of water. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions. 
• Step 2: Fill the sprayer with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until well-mixed. 
• Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of the weed leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. If needed, a second application may be done when 4 weeks have passed after the first application.  

Where to Use

Prime Source Triclopyr 4E Select can be used on rangeland and permanent grass pastures, conservation reserve program (CRP) acres (including fence rows and non-irrigation ditch banks within these areas), rights-of-way, ornamental turf, industrial sites, non-crop areas, non-irrigation ditch banks, forests, and wildlife openings, including grazed areas on these sites. 

Do not apply to bahiagrass, bentgrass, bermudagrass, centipedegrass, St. Augustine grass, or zoysiagrass, unless turf injury can be tolerated.

When to Use

Apply when weeds are actively growing or when woody plants are present. Avoid applications when rainfall is expected when 24 hours have passed after application. 

Safety Information

Prime Source Triclopyr 4E Select is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product. 

Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area until the sprays have dried. 

Special Considerations

While Prime Source Triclopyr 4E Select is formulated as a low volatile ester, the combination of spray con tact with impervious surfaces (such as roads and rocks) and increasing ambient air temperatures may result in an increase in the volatility potential for this herbicide, increasing a risk for off-target injury to sensitive crops such as grapes and tomatoes.
