Osmocote Smart-Release Plant Food Plus Outdoor & Indoor, manufactured by Scotts Miracle-Gro, is a superior granule fertilizer that provides up to 11 essential nutrients and a 15-9-12 npk ratio to promote consistent growth of garden plants both indoors and outdoors.
Each product granule consists of a homogenous nutrient prill coated with semi-permeable resin derived from linseed oil to ensure controlled release of npk and secondary nutrients. Using the natural moisture in the soil, nutrients are slowly released over 6 months to match the plant root system development and uptake of nutrients within various climates.
Osmocote Smart-Release Plant Food Plus Outdoor & Indoor provides excellent and safe foliage development for beginning or experienced gardeners as over-applications exceed by 3 times the rate will not result in plant burn.

Osmocote Smart-Release Plant Food Plus Outdoor & Indoor comes ready to use as it can be applied directly from the container or by pouring the granules into the product cap to act as a measuring spoon.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Osmocote Smart-Release Plant Food Plus Outdoor & Indoor to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). Apply 1 capful of Osmocote Smart-Release Plant Food Plus Outdoor & Indoor per 2 gallon plant pot or 4 sq. ft.
- Step 2: While wearing gloves, shake the proper amount of Osmocote Smart-Release Plant Food Plus Outdoor & Indoor granules onto the soil then mix it in the first layer of soil about 1-3 inches deep. Water the treated area with a light amount of irrigation.
- Step 3: Reapply Osmocote Smart-Release Plant Food Plus Outdoor & Indoor every 6 months.

Q:Hello, I’m trying to figure out how much Osmecote plus I need to purchase. I have 300 feet of emerald green thuja that are 7 feet tall and 2 feet apart down one side of my yard. Down the other side I have 300 feet of Leyland Cypress that are about 3 feet apart and 12 feet tall With a stump stock base of probably seven or 8 inches. How much is “ a cap full”? and how many cap fulls per 50 pound bag? Thank you4/26/24A:1 capful equals 3 tablespoons. One lb of this product will cover up to 37 sq. ft. So to cover 300 sq. ft. you would need 8 lbs of this Osmocote Smart-Release Plant Food.
