Nibor-D Insecticide, manufactured by the Nisus Corporation, is a versatile water-soluble borate powder that can be used as a dust, applied liquid, foam or mop solution. It works indoors and out and even as a crack and crevices treatment.
As a broad spectrum fungicide and insecticide it kills a variety of pests through it's active ingredient boron 98% which interferes with an insects' metabolism so that they eventually to starve to death.
Nibor-D Insecticide provides a green tint that allows it to be used in USDA facilities that will not cause metal to corrode as other boric acid products. This powder is also known for its reputation of no known insecticide resistance making it an versatile economic product with less reapplication needed.
Tools Needed
Nibor-D Is a versatile product and can be used as a dust, liquid, foam or mop solution. Depending on how you want to use the product you'll need either a pesticide duster, a hand-pump sprayer, a foaming device or a mop and bucket.
This product can be used in conjunction with an insect growth regulator (IGR) such as pyriproxyfen, hydroprene or methoprene, a fungicide/mildewcide, an emulsifiable disinfectant or a non-residual knock-down emulsifiable insect adulticide.
How to Use
- Step 1: First, clean and thoroughly vacuum all areas to be treated, including surfaces under furniture and beds, and in areas where animals sleep or rest. Remove cushions and vacuum crevices of furniture. Discard vacuum bag after use. Inspect your pest problem and observe where they are active to know where to focus your treatment. Depending on the pest and target size will determine the treatment method of a liquid, foam, or dust application. For 10% liquid solution, use 1.0 lbs. of Nibor-D Insecticide per each gallon of water. For liquid sprays or foams, add 1.5 lbs. (approximately 7.5 cups) of product per gallon of water to create 15% liquid solution. For mopping, treating carpets, furniture, mold, mildew, or using a carpet cleaning machine, add only 8 ounces (approximately 2.5 cups) of Nibor-D per gallon of water. As a dust application, use 0.5 oz. (12-14 grams) of product per square foot of treatment area.
- Step 2: To use a liquid solution, pour half the amount of required water into the mixing vessel, add the required amount of Nibor-D Insecticide, then add remaining water. Stir the water until the Nibor-D Insecticide has completely dissolved. Use this finished solution as soon as possible as product will become ineffective after extended period of time.
- Step 3: As a dust solution, remove the cap (lid) to the duster and fill the compartment with the measured amount of Nibor-D Insecticide. Place the cap back on to the duster. Squeeze the bulb or pressure handle to release the product material.
- Step 4: Dust generously on surfaces, insect galleries, into voids, and other labeled areas. Avoid introducing this product into the air. No powder should be visible after application. For liquid and foam applications, perform spot treatments and allow enough product material to penetrate cracks and crevices and crevices areas under equipment. After each application types, remove or brush any powder visible after application into cracks and crevices. Protect newly treated wood from excessive rain or moisture.
Where to Use
Nibor-D Insecticide can be used in attic insulation, apartment buildings, bird and poultry production facilities, buses, carpet cleaning machines, Floor drains, refuse containers, factories, garages, grocery stores, homes, hospitals, hotels, industrial plants, kennels, libraries, manhole covers, markets, military bases, mobile homes, new construction, nursing homes, offices, public and private institutions, restaurants, sewers, schools, ships, theaters, trains, trucks, utilities, warehouses, yachts and zoos.
Outdoor areas can be treated as a crack and crevice treatment around windows, doorframes and other areas where insect pests may enter or to areas where insects hide, such as behind baseboards, storage shelves and wall studs; between elements of construction, equipment and floors; in attics, attic insulation, block voids, box sills, cracks, crevices, eaves, equipment legs and equipment bases, voids and wall voids; in openings around pipes and sinks and openings leading to voids and hollow spaces in walls; on logs, lumber, moist areas, plywood, railroad ties, soffits and utility poles; under refrigerators; and wood-foam composite structural components.
Nibor-D Insecticide is recommended for wood and cellulose materials in accordance with specific treatment methods described on the product label for all interior and exterior wood that will be protected from excessive rain and not in direct contact with the soil. Types of treatable materials include, but are not limited to, decks, fences, steps, sheds, barns and other outbuildings, ties, wool insulation, stumps, utility poles, timber, lumber, logs and plywood
Do not apply Nibor-D liquid solutions in conduits, motor housings, junction boxes, switch boxes or other electrical equipment because of possible shock hazard. Do not apply product directly onto a surface where food is prepared, served or stored. Any product left visible on a food surface after treatment should be removed and surface washed.
When to Use
Use Nibor-D when you have a light insect, fungus, and mildew infestation or as a preventative to eliminate these infestation before occurring. This product may also be used for pre-treatment of wood before or during the construction process.
Safety Information
Nibor-D Insecticide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.
Apply Nibor-D Insecticide only in areas inaccessible to children and pets.
Allow product to dry completely before allowing pets or children back on treated surfaces.
Special Considerations
Nibor-D Insecticide may leave a light residue on dark surfaces, which can be removed with a warm-damp cloth.
This product should not be applied to wood or cellulose material that has been painted, varnished or sealed. For best results, apply Nibor-D to bare wood.
