Negate 37WG, manufactured by Quali-Pro, is a tough post-emergent herbicide that comes in wettable granule form.

The active ingredient in the herbicide is both Rimsulfuron and metsulfuron which makes it a dual powered herbicide that can successfully control over 35 different annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in established warm season turfgrass.

Just a single application can deliver between 8 to 12 weeks of control so you don't have to apply so often.

Tools Needed

To use Negate 37WG Herbicide you will need to mix the product into a power sprayer of your choosing such as a professional pesticide spray rig for large volume applications.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Negate 37WG you need by calculating the acreage of the application site. To do this, measure (in feet) and multiply that area length and width then divide by 43,560 (length x width = square footage /43,560 = acreage). Negate 37 is applied at 1.5 fl oz per acre and spray volumes of 20 to 80 gallons of water per acre. Check the label for specific rates as they vary depending on application site and the weed you are trying to control.
  • Step 2: Fill your spray tank with the appropriate amount of water and then add the appropriate amount of Negate 37WG based on your calculations. Fill with the remaining half of water and then agitate the sprayer until the solution is well-mixed.
  • Step 3: Spray the target weeds, making sure to get even coverage via fan spray setting.
  • Step 4: Check back after 2 weeks and reapply if necessary to get complete control.

Where to Use

Negate 37WG can be used on Golf Courses, Sod Farms, Professionally Managed College and Professional Sports Fields, Industrial and Commercial Lawns, and Other Similar Non-Residential Areas. It is not intended for residential use.

When to Use

Use Negate 37WG at the first sign of weed growth in early spring. Product may be less effective during the high heat of summer.

Safety Information

Negate 37WG is safe to use when applied according to label directions. Please make sure to wear the proper PPE before application (gloves, goggles, face mask). Keep people and pets away from the area until the product has completely dried.

Special Considerations

Quali-Pro Negate 37WG is not intended to be applied as a spot application in areas less than 1 acre.

  1. Q:Can you apply 12 hours before a rain storm? How long to wait before watering?
    4/9/24
A:Yes that the best time to put it down before a hard rain fall

  2. Q:my yard is 8200 sqft. I have a 3 gallon back pack sprayer. What should be my mixture be and how often should I apply to my yard?
    8/22/23
A:Negate 37 needs to be put down with precision and consistency, it's great stuff but can also harm things if the directions aren't followed. You need to be VERY certain that you can apply a consistent and even application with your backpack sprayer which IMO is hard to do. I believe the instructions call for 1 gallon of carrier (water) per 1K sq ft. The bottle of Negate I believe is enough to cover 1 acre. The prills in the bottle are of different chemicals and it's not easy to "divide it" to less than an acre in the "prill state". The recommended way is to dissolve the entire bottle in a gallon of water. You now have a concentrate you can measure out but you also have shortened the shelf life to about 4-6 weeks. Make sure you really do have 8200 sq ft of grass to treat. 8200 ft is about 1/5 of an acre so you would use 1/5 of that gallon of concentrate in 8 gallons of liquid to spray the entire area (the .2K ends up being the 1/5 gallon to make 8.2 gallons total). Be uniform and be careful NOT to get it on ornamentals or other plants. It WILL damage a lot of plants and landscaping (read the label). The left over concentrate will still be good for a second app if needed (per label instructions). If you don't have anyone to share with, the remaining concentrate needs to be disposed (again see label). GREAT PRODUCT, WORKS WELL, CAUTION AND CARE REQUIRED. Read the label then read it again. I use a tow behind and usually treat 1/2 acre of grass so the bottle works well for me. I practiced with speed, spray pressure and even tire pressure to get to 1 gallon per 1K ft. Good luck with a backpack. I know people have done it, I'm just cautioning you to not "WING IT"!

  3. Q:Is this safe in grass over tree roots? specifically olive, italian cypress. pomegranite
    5/21/23
A:Do not apply Negate 37WG (except as directed) or drain or flush equipment on or near trees or other desirable plants, or on areas where their roots may extend or in locations where the chemical may be washed or moved into contact with their roots otherwise you risk injury or death to the tree. Do not plant ornamentals such as shrubs and trees in treated areas for at least 1 year after the last application or bedding plants for at least 2 years.

  4. Q:Can negate be used on centipede grass?
    4/21/23
A:Negate 37WG is just for use on in Bermudagrass and zoysiagrass within listed application sites on the product label. For a general post-emergent herbicide, we recommend MSM Turf Herbicide (Manor) to control listed weeds on Centipedegrass. https://www.solutionsstores.com/msm-turf-herbicide-manor

  5. Q:I have a 21 gallon tank. If I use the full bottle will it do any damage to the grass or just be harsher on killing the weeds? I am working with an area around .7 acres
    3/6/23
A:Negate 37WG size is 1.5 oz. You can use the full 1.5 oz bottle, but do apply more than 1.5 oz. of product per acre per application. Do not use on Bahiagrass where it is the desired turf, as severe injury may result. For most labeled turgrasses the use rate is 1.5 oz. of Negate 37WG per 20-80 gallons of water per acre so using a rate lower can provide incomplete weed control. A repeat application may be required in 4 to 6 weeks.

  7. Q:I applied Negate 37 when on my tall fescue to spot treat POA. The POA is dying and the tall fescue is turning a little yellow but appears to be ok. It’s been 3 weeks since application. Will the tall fescue recover. Should I apply iron or fertilizer to help it come back?
    2/19/20
A:The fescue turns a white yellow but does return to normal with time and no additional chemicals. I just went along with my usual program and everything was back to normal after the next scheduled application of fert.
