Navigate Selective Aquatic Herbicide
Navigate Selective Aquatic Herbicide is an effective granular aquatic herbicide that targets floating and submerged aquatic weeds without harming desirable aquatic vegetation or disrupting the aquatic environment.
04/02/26
Navigate Selective Aquatic Herbicide, manufactured by Applied Bio, is a selective granular aquatic herbicide formulated with 2,4-D, designed to control a range of invasive and nuisance aquatic plants.
Unlike liquid herbicides that can drift or dilute too quickly, Navigate's granular form sinks directly to the base of the weeds. This provides more effective root absorption and reduces unnecessary exposure to non-target areas. It doesn’t just burn off the top growth. It’s a systemic herbicide, meaning it gets absorbed by the plant and travels to the roots, stopping regrowth and providing longer-lasting results.
Navigate Selective Aquatic Herbicide offers a targeted, reliable, and environmentally sound approach to reclaiming the beauty and health of your aquatic spaces.
Tools Needed
Power equipment or boats should be used. You may also use a fertilizer spreader or mechanical seeder.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Navigate Selective Aquatic Herbicide to use by measuring the surface acre of the treatment area. Find the surface acre by measuring the length and width of the surface of the water body then multiplying and dividing them together (length X width / 43,560 sq. ft. = surface acre). For typical subsurface applications with an average depth of 1 feet, use 5.4 pounds of Navigate Selective Aquatic Herbicide per acre-foot. For difficult infestations in water sites with an average depth of 1 feet, apply 10.8 pounds of product per acre-foot. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Broadcast the granules directly onto the water surface. If treatments must be applied later in the season when the weed mass is dense and repeat treatments are needed, spread granules in lanes, leaving buffer strips which can then be treated when vegetation in treated lanes has disintegrated. Buffer lanes should be 50 to 100 feet wide. Treated lanes should be as wide as the buffer strips.
- Step 3: If regrowth occurs within a period of 6 to 8 weeks, a second application may be needed. Limited to 2 applications per season. Minimum of 21 days between applications.
Where to Use
Navigate Selective Aquatic Herbicide can be applied to emergent aquatic weeds in ponds, lakes, reservoirs, marshes, bayous, drainage ditches, non-irrigation canals, rivers, and streams that are quiescent or slow-moving.
When to Use
Best results are generally obtained if the water to be treated has a pH less than 8. A pH of 8 or higher may reduce weed control.
Safety Information
Navigate Selective Aquatic Herbicide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.
For floating and emergent weed applications, the drinking water setback distance from functioning potable water intakes is greater than or equal to 600 feet.
Special Considerations
Do not swim in treated water for a minimum of 24 hours after application.
