Monterey Brush & Vine Control, manufactured by Monterey, is a highly effective post-emergent herbicide concentrate designed to tackle the toughest of broadleaf and vine weeds within various residential sites.

Utilizes the power of the active ingredient triclopyr 8.8%, which works quickly to kill unwanted vegetation like poison ivy, clover, poison oak, including stumps from previously removed trees.

Monterey Brush & Vine Control is a fast-acting herbicide that delivers consistent and easy control for homeowners facing invasive brush, vines, and weeds creeping into their property.

Tools Needed

A hose-end sprayer, backpack sprayer, or handheld sprayer may be used.

For stump treatments, you may need to use a paintbrush that you can throw away after application. Cannot be reused.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Monterey Brush & Vine Control to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). Mix 8 to 16 tablespoons (4 to 8 fl. oz.) of Monterey Brush & Vine Control in 1 gallon of water per 500 sq. ft. To kill stumps and prevent sprouting, apply the product undiluted.
  • Step 2: For a sprayer application (not intended for stump treatments), fill it with half the amount of water then add the proper amount of product. Add in the remaining half of applications.
  • Step 3: Using coarse spray pattern and low pressure, apply as a thorough foliage spray to wet all leaves. For stump treatments, apply the undiluted product to completely cover the freshly cut surface. Do not reuse paint brush. Wrap in several layers of newspaper and discard in trash.

Where to Use

Apply this herbicide concentrate around homes, cabins, fences, walkways, and other non-crop areas.

Do not apply this product directly to, or allow to drift to, grapes, vegetable crops, flowers, ornamentals, or other desirable foliage.

When to Use

Make applications when brush and weeds are fully leafed out and actively growing on days when rainfall is not expected to occur for the next 24 hours after application.

Safety Information

Monterey Brush & Vine Control is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Do not allow children and pets to enter treated areas until the spray has completely dried.

Special Considerations

When treating vines such as poison oak, poison ivy, etc. that grow on or around desirable plants, do not allow spray to contact desirable vegetation. Cut the vine first and treat as directed for stump treatment.
