Tools Needed

To use Milogranite All Purpose Slow-Release Fertilizer, you will need the help of a lawn spreader, hand spreader, or a push spreader. We recommend a push spreader to broadcast the fertilizer most efficiently.

How to Use

Spreading Milorganite

  • Step 1: Prior to product application, mow your lawn to its appropriate height and allow grass clippings to remain on the lawn. Grass clippings will help to recycle nutrients back into the soil. Determine how much Miloganite All Purpose Slow-Release Fertilizer to use by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To find this, measure the treatment areas length and width in feet then multiply (length X width = square footage). The application rate will vary per site. For Northern and Southern Lawns, apply 32 lbs. of Milorganite All Purpose Slow-Release Fertilizer per 2,500 sq. ft. On new lawns, use 64 lbs. of product per 2,500 sq. ft. For established shrubs, apply 5 lbs. of product per 100 sq. ft. of soil surface. For established trees, use 5 lbs. of product per inch of trunk diameter. Spring annuals will use 1.5 lbs. (4 1/2 cups) of product per 50 sq. ft. Summer annuals will use 1 lb. (3 cups) of product per 50 sq. ft. Spring perennials use 2.5 lbs. (7 1/2 cups) of product per 50 sq. ft. Summer perennials will use 2.5 lbs. (7 1/2 cups) per 50 sq. ft. Established roses, apply 1 lb. (3 cup) of product per 50 sq. ft. Prior to planting vegetables use 4.5 (13 1/2 cups) of product per 50 sq. ft.
  • Step 2: Calibrate your spreader based on its type. Refer to the product label for appropriate calibration settings. Once calibrated, load half the amount of proper amount of Miloganite All Purpose Slow-Release Fertilizer into the spreader. Begin walking in the North and South direction. Apply the remainder of product walking in the East and West direction.
  • Step 3: Water your treated areas immediately after application to reduct attraction of dogs. In case of product spillage, rake or sweep up the fertilizer and spread it over the lawn. Wash hands after use.
