Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix
Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix
Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix, manufactured by St. Gabriel Organics, is an easy to apply water soluble granule that specifically works against the grub stage of the Japanese Beetle. Once applied to the soil it will remain dormant until grubs begin feeding on grass roots and ingest the product.
Once the grub ingests the Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix, the spores in the product will multiply inside the grub and within a week the grub will die. As the Japanese Beetle grub decomposes it will release the product back into the soil creating a long lasting residual effect for up to 10 years.
Due to its organic natural ingredient bacillus papilliae 0.02%, Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix will eliminate the Japanese Beetle Grub without harming the environment, pets, plants, shrubs or beneficial insects.
Tools Needed
To use Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix you will need a type of drop spreader and the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) that will protect your face, eyes, mouth, hands, and feet.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine where Japanese Beetle Grub is located or the area most active. Calculate how much Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix to apply to the treatment area by determining the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure and multiply the area length times the width (length X width = square footage). The use rate of Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix is 1 lb. per 350 sq. ft. or 20 lb. per 7,000 sq. ft. For maximum build up, apply this product during the spring, summer, and fall for two years. Once established it may remain viable for up to 10 years.
- Step 2: Fill the spreader with Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix and put the spreader on the correct setting for your specific spreader model (check the label for details). If you are unsure which setting to use with your spreader, you can test your spreader settings on 350 sq. ft. of turf. You are aiming to apply at a rate of 1 pound of product per 350 sq. ft., adjust your settings until this rate is reached.
- Step 3: Begin broadcasting Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix at the edge of the lawn and walk all the way around the perimeter of the yard at a steady pace. Then walk back and forth across the yard in a straight line to cover the space in the middle. After you have completed application, lightly water the treatment area and do not mow until the product is dry.
Where to Use
Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix can be used on lawns, gardens, flower beds, ground covers, vegetable gardens, trees and shrubs around homes.
When to Use
For the best results, apply Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix during the earliest parts of spring, summer, and fall for the first two consecutive years. It is best to apply at the beginning half of each season before the grubs hatch and when the ground is not frozen.
Safety Information
Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.
Special Considerations
Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix is a 2 year consecutive program, but once this time has passed it will last within your property for up to 10 years.
You cannot mow your property until the granules have been watered into the soil and soaked into the soil for at least 24 hours.

Q:Is it safe for my free range chickens?6/6/22A:It will work on eradicating grubs in the soil. If that is what free range chickens eat, I don’t think applying milky spore to your soil is a good idea.
