Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix, manufactured by St. Gabriel Organics, is an easy-to-apply water-soluble granule that specifically works against the Japanese beetle's grub stage. Once applied to the soil, it will remain dormant until grubs begin feeding on grass roots and ingest the product.

Once the grub ingests the Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix, the spores in the product multiply inside it, and within a week, the grub dies. As the Japanese Beetle grub decomposes, it releases the product back into the soil, creating a long-lasting residual effect for up to 10 years.

Due to its organic natural ingredient, bacillus papillae 0.02%, Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix will eliminate the Japanese Beetle Grub without harming the environment, pets, plants, shrubs, or beneficial insects.

Tools Needed

You will need a type of drop spreader and the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) that will protect your face, eyes, mouth, hands, and feet.

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine where Japanese Beetle Grub is located or the area most active. Calculate how much Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix to apply to the treatment area by determining the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure and multiply the area length times the width (length X width = square footage). The use rate of Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix is 1 lb. per 350 sq. ft. or 20 lb. per 7,000 sq. ft. For maximum build-up, apply this product for two years in spring, summer, and fall. Once established, it may remain viable for up to 10 years.
• Step 2: Fill the spreader with Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix and set it to the correct setting for your specific spreader model (check the label for details). If you are unsure which setting to use with your spreader, you can test your spreader settings on 350 sq. ft. of turf. You are aiming to apply 1 pound of product per 350 sq. ft.; adjust your settings until this rate is reached.
• Step 3: Begin broadcasting Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix at the edge of the lawn and walk around the yard's perimeter steadily. Then, walk back and forth across the yard straight to cover the space in the middle. After completing the application, lightly water the treatment area and not mow until the product is dry.

Milky Spore Granular Organic Mix can be used on lawns, gardens, flower beds, ground covers, vegetable gardens, trees, and shrubs around homes.

When to Use

For the best results, apply during spring and late summer/early fall for the first two consecutive years. It is best to apply before the grubs hatch and when the ground is not frozen.

Special Considerations
