Merit 75 WP Insecticide
Merits 75 WP is a systemic insecticide containing 75% Imidacloprid designed for effective systemic insect control.
11/04/26
Merit 75 WP Insecticide, manufactured by Bayer Environmental Science, is a systemic insecticide containing 75% Imidacloprid designed for effective foliar and systemic insect control in turfgrass (including sod farms), landscape ornamentals, fruit and nut trees, and interior plantscapes.
This white to light beige powder formulation disperses in water and offers long-lasting control against a broad spectrum of insect pests. Its active ingredient, Imidacloprid, acts on insects by ingestion and contact, disrupting their nervous systems to prevent damage to plants.
Tools Needed
For the application of Merit 75 WP, appropriate sprayers such as backpack sprayers, hose-end sprayers, or commercial spray equipment calibrated for accurate dosing are needed.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine the treatment area size and calculate the proper amount of Merit 75 WP based on the pest and site to be treated. Application rates can range from 0.25 teaspoons per 2.5 gallons up to 3 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon per 100 gallons of water depending on target pest and use site.
- Step 2: Mix the measured amount of Merit 75 WP thoroughly with the appropriate volume of water. Ensure uniform suspension before application.
- Step 3: Apply evenly using calibrated equipment, avoiding drift and overspray. For turfgrass, apply before egg hatch for optimal control. For ornamentals and trees, soil drenches or foliar sprays can be applied to manage sucking and leaf-feeding insects. Follow irrigation guidelines to move the active ingredient into the root zone after application.
Where to Use
Merit 75 WP is effective for use on residential and commercial lawns, golf courses, parks, sod farms, playgrounds, athletic fields, and various landscape ornamentals including trees, shrubs, and foliage plants. It also has labeled uses on fruit and nut trees and interior plantscapes. The product is not labeled for use in commercial greenhouses or food handling areas.
When to Use
Apply Merit 75 WP insecticide prior to the egg hatch stage of target pests for maximum efficacy. It can be applied preventively or when pest populations are detected. Avoid applications during bloom or when bees are actively foraging to prevent harm to pollinators. Use in calm, dry weather when rain is not forecasted for at least 24 hours to ensure effectiveness.
Safety Information
Merit 75 WP should be handled with care to avoid eye irritation and inhalation or skin contact, which can be harmful. Always wear recommended personal protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, and protective clothing during handling and application. Wash thoroughly after use. Keep children and pets away from treated areas until sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
Store Merit 75 WP in a cool, dry place away from other pesticides, fertilizers, food, and feed to prevent contamination. Dispose of excess pesticide and containers following all federal, state, and local regulations. Avoid release to water bodies as it is highly toxic to aquatic invertebrates and pollinators. The product is stable under recommended storage conditions and does not bioaccumulate. Use responsibly with respect to environmental precautions and resistance management strategies.
