Maruyama MSD41 Piston Pump
Maruyama MSD41 Piston Pump
The MSD41 Piston Pump is manufactured by Maruyama and is a 3/4 direct drive piston pump that delivers a consistent and reliable application. The MSD41 piston pump is an essential component used in our custom spraying rigs. It is constructed of chemical-resistant aluminum with modular design to ensure a simple and worry-free repair and maintenance.
The pump comes equipped with a regulator and can pump out 8 gallons a minute at 570 pounds of pressure. It also features a Uniflow design to ensure that fluid only moves in one direction, which makes it so there is low pulsation and vibration while the MSD41 is being operated. If your piston pump has been compromised, this replacement Maruyama MSD41 piston pump will get your spraying rig back working the way that it should.
Tools Needed
There will be tools necessary to install the Maruyama MSD41 piston pump onto your spraying rig. Refer to the instructions that come with the part to see what you need.
How to Use
- Step 1: Following the manufacturer instructions, remove the old piston pump from your spraying rig and replace it with the Maruyama MSD41 Piston Pump. Tighten to secure.
- Step 2: Fill the crankcase of the MSD41 piston pump with lubricating oil up to the center level of the gauge and feed a few drops of oil into the 3 holes of the crankcase. You will then need to attach the strainer for the hose coupling and insert the suction hose and overflow hose into the chemical tank.
- Step 3: Make sure the pressure regulator is set to START and then close the valve before starting the engine. When you're ready to spray, regulate the pressure to your desired output and open the valves.
- Step 4: When you are done spraying, close the valve and turn the pressure regulator knob back to the START position.
Where to Use
This piston pump is a replacement part specifically for pesticide spraying rigs.
When to Use
Use the piston pump as part of a pesticide skid sprayer for tree spraying, turf application, herbicide application, termite work and perimeter spraying around structures.
Safety Information
Always use the proper PPE when operating or performing maintenance to the piston pump (safety mask, gloves, protective eyewear).
Special Considerations
The Maruyama MSD41 Piston Pump is a specialized part of our custom pesticide spray rigs. Refer to the pump's manual for detailed operating procedures and maintenance information.
The MSD41 Piston Pump requires an engine to power it as it will not function on its own. A 3.6 hp (GX160 gas engine) is required.

Q:In the start position with the motor full throttle it has about 100 psi how do you turn it down to 25 psi ?10/17/23A:It should be used on the first notch. If you need less pressure than that, you can look at using different guns/applicator tools.

Q:I filled the pump with sae 30 w non detergent oil to the red check line and it is pumping oil out of the breather hole? Is that normal8/7/23A:The unit should only be filled to the middle of the red dot. If you're over that spot, then you can drain some oil from the bottom of the pump.

Q:I installed the pump and when I open up the valves to spray from my skid sprayer, it sounds like a REALLY loud vibrating. The overflow goes through my agitator in the tank, and the main cock goes through my hose reel. I don't seemd to notice a difference between "start" and max pressure. It's all max pressure it seems, but that rattling (nothing appears to be loose" is startling. Almost like it's an interior rattling. Is that the noise of the pistons working? Or are they not lubed yet? I added oil to the correct level and can't see where I could have gone wrong9/2/22

Q:I want to buy this and replace my garbage comet mc25 ds on my spraying rig (pest control, 55 gallon tank). Gas engine is Honda GX 160. I saw you answer it fits the GX but not the 160. Will I need to buy any other parts? Or can I just switch out pumps and call it a day?8/24/22A:Yup- i only run them on Gx160s. Bolts right up with their mounting plate.
