Martins TopShot Herbicide Weed Killer
Martin's TopShot Herbicide Weed Killer is a metsulfuron-methyl (MSM) selective broadleaf weed killer. It controls many different weeds found in cool and warm-season lawns. TopShot can be used on the entire lawn or as a spot treatment, leaving the grass unharmed.
Martin's TopShot Herbicide Weed Killer, manufactured by Control Solutions, is a liquid herbicide used to control various types of weeds that destroy lawns by robbing the grass of sunlight and nutrients.
This product functions as a dual-action weed killer that allows the active ingredient, metsulfuron-methyl, to absorb through the leaves and roots, stopping cell division and ensuring weed eradication. It is also a selective weed killer, ideal for treating lawns without killing the grass.
Martin's TopShot Herbicide Weed Killer is great for St. Augustine grass, zoysiagrass, centipedegrass, Bermudagrass, and many others. It has 2 ampules for easy mixture and application and treats up to 5,000 square feet.
Tools Needed
You will need a pump-up sprayer or an adjustable-rate hose-end sprayer with a capacity of at least 16 oz.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Martins TopShot Herbicide Weed Killer to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. You can do this by measuring the treatment areas' length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length x width = square footage). For 2,500 square feet or smaller areas, you need 1 ampule of TopShot. For larger areas (up to 5,000 square feet), you will need 2 ampules. It is best to only treat 2.500 square feet by measuring your treatment area. If applying to more than that, repeat the mixing and spraying procedure for the other 2,500 square feet.
- Step 2: If using a hose-end sprayer, first attach the sprayer to the end of your hose. Remove the sprayer's bottle, add TopShot, and then fill the bottle with 16 ounces of water. Reattach the bottle and shake to mix well. If using a pump sprayer, fill the tank halfway with water, squeeze the ampule inside the tank, then fill the remaining water. Shake well to ensure a thorough mix.
- Step 3: After you have created your solution, you can begin your application. Spray Martin's TopShot Herbicide Weed Killer evenly onto the entire lawn, being sure to coat the turf. You do not want to over-saturate; you are simply spraying the yard to the point of wetness. Do not water after application, and keep all people and pets off the treated area until dry. For best results, a fan-spray setting is recommended.
Where to Use
Martin's TopShot Herbicide Weed Killer can be used on Kentucky bluegrass, fine fescue, Bermuda grass, centipede grass, zoysiagrass, and St. Augustine grass.
Avoid spraying other areas besides your desired space. Flower beds and trees are sensitive to this product.
When to Use
Apply Martin's TopShot Herbicide Weed Killer in spring, summer, fall, or any time weeds are actively growing. Apply on calm days when wind speeds are low and rain is not in the immediate forecast.
Safety Information
Martin's TopShot Herbicide Weed Killer is safe to use around people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not allow children or pets to contact treated areas until sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
Do not apply this product when temperatures exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit—this could cause burns on your grass. Be careful when treating areas around the base of trees. If a weed-eater or similar lawn tool nicks or cuts the tree, the tree could become sick.
