Martin’s Triclopyr 4
Martin’s Triclopyr 4
Martin's Triclopyr 4, manufactured by CSI, is a liquid post-emergent herbicide that manages and eliminates the most persistent broadleaf weed species and woody plant and vines in agricultural and commercial areas.
Formulated with triclopyr 61.6% this active ingredient works to systemically control certain types of plants by promoting excessive weed growth then a slow death. Once absorbed it will travel throughout the unwanted plant then to the roots for a complete elimination and preventing future reinfestations.
Martin's Triclopyr 4 requires minimum application in treatment areas helping to lessen the amount of product purchased.
Tools Needed
Martin's Triclopyr 4 will need to be applied with either a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, knapsack sprayer, ground application equipment, or aerial application equipment (helicopter or fixed-winged aircraft).
For aerial applications apply this product through a microfoil or thru-valve boom.
Do not apply this product through any type of irrigation system.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Martin's Triclopyr 4 to use by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To find this, measure the treatment areas length and width in feet and follow the formula (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide by one acre (square footage / 43,560 = acre). Broadcast applications with ground equipment will use 4 to 8 quarts of Martin's Triclopyr 4 per 5 gallon of water per acre for foliage treatments. Broadleaf control through broadcast applications with ground equipment will apply 1 to 4 quarts of product per 5 gallons of water per acre. Aerial applications for foliage treatments will use 4 to 8 quarts of product per 1 to 30 gallons of water per acre. Refer to the label for specific application rates.
- Step 2: Fill your selected sprayer halfway with the required amount of water, add the measured amount of Martin's Triclopyr 4, then pour in the remaining half of water. Close the sprayer lid and shake until solution is well-mixed.
- Step 3: Applications through ground equipment will spray the top and bottom of leaves, stems, and bark of unwanted plants until wet, but not to the point of run-off. Avoid applications to exposed roots of shallow root trees and shrubs. Aerial applications equipment will need to be adjusted to a low-pressure spray to provide coarse spray droplets. Spray only when wind velocity is low and follow state regulations. Do not water treated areas 24 hours after application.
Where to Use
Use Martin's Triclopyr 4 in forests, grass pastures, rangelands, CRP acres, right-of-ways, non-crop areas (industrial manufacturing, storage sites), ornamental turf (such as sod farms, commercial turf, and golf courses), industrial sites, non-irrigation ditch banks, permanent grass pastures, fence rows, around farm buildings, perennial bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, tall fescue ornamental turf (including sod farms, commercial turf, and golf courses), grazed areas, seasonably dry wetlands, flood plains, deltas, marshes, swamps, bogs and transitional areas between upland and lowland sites.
Do not apply to bahiagrass, bentgrass, bermudagrass, centipedegrass, St. Augustine grass, or zoysiagrass unless turf injury can be tolerated. This product cannot also be applied on golf course greens, ditches used to transport irrigation water, open water sites, cotton, fruit or orchard trees, shrubs, grapes, peanuts, soybeans, tobacco, vegetable crops, flowers, citrus, or other desirable broadleaf plants, and forbs (especially legumes such as clover).
When to Use
Apply Martin's Triclopyr 4 when woody plants and weed are actively growing, particularly when brush is less than 8 feet tall. To ensure adequate control, spray when soil temperature is above 75 degrees Fahrenheit and when desired plants are well-established during the late spring to early fall.
Newly seeded turf should be mowed 2 or 3 times before being treated. Do not reseed treated areas for a minimum of three weeks after treatment.
Do not harvest hay for 14 days after application.
Safety Information
Martin's Triclopyr 4 is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or spraying this product.
Do not allow lactating dairy animals to graze treated areas until the next growing season following application of this product.
Do not enter or allow others to enter the treated areas until 12 hours have passed from application or until sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
Avoid direct application to Christmas trees as conifer injury may result. When treating unwanted vegetation in Christmas tree plantations, use sprays directed away from conifers.
Withdraw livestock from grazing treated grass or consumption of treated hay at least 3 days before slaughter.
