Marathon 60 WP Insecticide, manufactured by OHP, is an exceptional industry-standard insecticide that provides greenhouse and nursery owners a sense of relief against nuisance pests for several weeks.

What makes it unique is not just the active ingredient imidacloprid, but the systemic activity. Once applied to the soil, imidacloprid is absorbed by the plant’s root system and transported upward through the xylem. Any insect that feeds on the plant’s tissues then receives a lethal dose.

Marathon 60 WP Insecticide remains a trusted, long-lasting systemic insecticide in professional nursery and greenhouse settings, providing deep-root protection against whiteflies, aphids, mealybugs, leafminers, and other destructive pests, keeping new growth clean for weeks to months while reducing labor and supporting a reliable, effective pest management program.

Tools Needed

You can use a backpack sprayer, a handheld pump sprayer, or a type of soil injection equipment.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Marathon 60 WP Insecticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage, by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For foliar applications in nurseries, use one packet of Marathon 60 WP Insecticide per 1 gallon of water per 2,900 to 3,850 sq. ft. For foliar applications to ornamentals and vegetable transplants, mix one packet of product per 100 gallons of water. Applications cannot exceed a total of 10.7 oz. of product per acre per year. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
  • Step 2: Within each foil pouch is a clear inner packet containing Marathon 60 WP Insecticide. The clear inner packet is water-soluble. Do not allow packets to become wet prior to adding to the tank. Do not handle the clear inner packets with wet hands or wet gloves. To prepare the mixture, remove the outer foil pouch and drop the required number of unopened clear water-soluble packets into the spray tank while filling the tank with the desired amount of water. The required number of packets is specified under ‘Dose’ in the tables below. Operate the agitator while mixing. Depending on the water temperature and the degree of agitation, the packets will completely dissolve within a few minutes from the time they are added to the water.
  • Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. For drench applications, apply the solution directly to the root zone or growing media of each plant, ensuring thorough saturation without runoff.

Where to Use

Marathon 60 WP Insecticide can be used on ornamental and vegetable transplants in greenhouses and nurseries.

For use only on non-bearing fruit and nut trees. Non-bearing fruit and nut trees are those trees that will not bear fruit or nuts for one year after application.

When to Use

Apply before or during active pest infestations. Depending on the pest, time applications where rainfall is expected within 24 hours after application, if you do not plan to water the site yourself.
