Mainspring GNL Insecticide, manufactured by Syngenta, is a unique broad-spectrum insecticide that makes it easy to eliminate key chewing and sucking pests on its own and also strengthens integrated crop management programs.

This suspension concentrate product uses a systemic and translaminar movement, which makes it easy to eliminate root-feeding pests like grubs and spittlebugs infesting upper parts of the plant for a well-rounded protection.

Mainspring GNL Insecticide is a easy to use insecticide that will keep invasive pest populations from building to damaging levels and keep crops free of aesthetic damages.

Tools Needed

To apply Mainspring GNL Insecticide, you will need to use either a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig. This product may be applied through chemigation or with soil injection equipment as well.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Mainspring GNL Insecticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Foliar applications to listed plants grown in greenhouses, nurseries (including field- and container-grown plants in shade and lath houses), and interior plantscapes, and residential and commercial landscapes will use between 4-8 fl. oz. of Mainspring GNL Insecticide per 100 gallons of water. Broadcast applications in and around greenhouses, nurseries, interior plantscapes, lath and shade houses, and residential and commercial landscapes will need to apply 8 to 20 fl. oz. of product in 100 gallons of water per acre or 0.046 to 0.459 fl. oz. of product in 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For crops and plants grown outdoors, do not apply more than 32 fl. oz. of product per year. For crops and plants grown indoors, do not apply more than 32 fl. oz. of product per acre per crop. Refer to the label for specific application rates and restrictions.
  • Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, add measured amount of Mainspring GNL Insecticide, then pour in the remaining half of water. Close the spray tank lid and mix the solution until dissolved. When applying this product by chemigation, adjust the pH of the chemigation systems supply or nurse tank using a commercially available acidifier. Adjust the pH of application mixtures after all products being applied have been added to the tank and uniformly mixed for broadcast and drench applications.
  • Step 3: When making foliar applications, spray the top and bottom of plant leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. To control turf caterpillars, delay watering (irrigation) or mowing for 24 hours after application. Wait a minimum of 7 days to retreat.

Where to Use

Mainspring GNL Insecticide can be used on ornamental plants; ornamental bulb, corm and tuber crops; conifers; Christmas trees; and non-bearing fruit and nut trees grown in greenhouses and nurseries (including field- and container-grown plants grown outdoors and in shade houses, lath houses and other ornamental production structures), conifer nurseries, retail nurseries, residential and commercial landscapes, and interior plantscapes.

When to Use

Apply Mainspring GNL Insecticide may be applied before planting or after plants have been established when low-level pest infestation occur. It may also be applied before they hatch from their eggs. Soil applications should be made prior to anticipated pest infestation to allow adequate systemic movement to achieve optimum levels of control.

Do not apply this product when rain is expected to occur within 48 hours of application.

Safety Information

Mainspring GNL Insecticide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Keep people and pets away from treated area until treatment has dried.

Special Considerations

Phytotoxicity testing has not been performed on all possible species and cultivars with Mainspring GNL Insecticide. Individual plant species or cultivars may be sensitive to the final spray solution, including tank mixes. If local experience is not available, a small number of plants should be treated and observed for phytotoxicity for at least one week before making an application to the entire planting to ensure plant safety.
