Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I, manufactured by Prime Source LLC, is a liquid systemic insecticide and termiticide used to control and prevent a broad spectrum of wood-infesting insects on turfgrass or landscape ornamentals.

Made with the active ingredient, imidacloprid 21.4%, targeted insects that come into contact with the product will have their nerve cells blocked leading to paralysis and death. As a non-repellent, insects will not be deterred from carrying Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I back to their nest, which helps to ensure complete elimination from ingestion or contact with the product.

Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I can be used for pre-construction, post-construction, exterior perimeter treatment, and interior spot treatment for termite applications and general pest control.

Tools Needed

To apply Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I, you will need either a backpack sprayer or handheld pump sprayer. For use as a termite treatment, you will need a pickaxe or shovel to dig the trench, and a bucket with at least 5 gallon capacity to mix and apply the product.

How to Use

Trenching for Termites

  • Step 1: First, remove or prune away any shrubbery, bushes, and tree branches touching your home or structure. Determine how much Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I to use by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment site in feet and multiply them together (length X width = square footage). To find acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre 43,560 (square footage / 43,560 = acre). For termite trenching, measure the perimeter of the structure in feet. For a typical termite control situation, use a 0.05% dilution or 0.1% dilution for severe infestations. Application rate for 0.5% dilution is 0.3 oz. of Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I per gallon of water and 0.6 oz. of product per gallon of water for 0.1% dilution rate. For general pest treatment on turf grass, use 0.6 oz. of product per 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Do not apply more than 25.6 oz. of product per acre per year. Refer to the labels instructions as each pest and location will have different rates, retreatments, and other restrictions.
  • Step 2: For exterior applications with a backpack or pump sprayer, fill halfway with the measured amount of water, add the appropriate amount of Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I, and add the remaining half of water. Close the sprayer lid and shake to ensure an even mixing. Pump the sprayer a few times to produce a low pressure spray.
  • Step 3: For termite trenching, dig a trench around the home or structure perimeter 6 inches wide and 6 inches deep. Do not dispose of the dug up soil as it will be used to refill the trench after application. Apply 4 gallons of solution per 10 linear feet to provide uniform coverage. It is helpful to create a dam with the soil every 10 feet of trench to section off each 10 foot stretch. Mix the spray solution with the soil in each 10 foot stretch and then refill with the loose displaced soil. When treating voids in hollow masonry units, use 2 gallons of solution per 10 linear feet of wall. Apply solution so it will reach the footing by injecting into the lower areas of the wall, just above the floor or footing.

Where to Use

Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I can be applied to residential turf grasses, in and outside perimeter of basements, crawl spaces, hollow block foundations or voids, concrete slab-on-ground, shallow foundations, plenums, wells, cisterns, garages, porches, patios, driveways, pavement joining the foundation of a structure, outer foundation walls of homes or structures, interior walls of structures, bath traps, shower or floor drains, around doors and windows, eaves and attic vents, utility entry points, soffit areas and other exterior openings, landscape ornamentals, residential fruit and nut trees and interior plantscapes, business and office complexes, shopping complexes, multi-family residential complexes, golf courses, airports, cemeteries, parks, playgrounds, and athletic fields.

Foam applications may only be used behind veneers, piers, chimney bases, into rubble foundations, into block voids, or structural voids, wall voids, under slabs, stoops, porches, or to the soil in crawl spaces, and other similar voids.

This product should not be applied until heat pipes, ducts, water and sewer lines and electrical conduits are found to avoid puncture during application.

When to Use

Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I can be used as a preventative treatment prior or during egg laying activity of insects, which is normally during early spring or fall. It may also be used when new construction is beginning or when construction is complete.

Apply this product during warm, calm weather when wind speeds are low to minimize drift and when rain is predicted 24 hours after application to irrigate.

Safety Information

Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.

Allow the treated areas to dry for at least 24 hours and when treatment sites are cleaned-up from the loose soil before allowing children and pets to enter. Livestock and other animals should not be allowed to graze from treated areas or use clippings from treated areas for feed or forage.

Special Considerations

Linden, basswood, and other Tilia species may be harmed if contacted by Imidacloprid 2F Select T/I.

After treatment, seal and plug all holes drilled in concrete slabs with suitable sealants.

Questions and Answers
  1. Q:How much imidacloprid 2F Select do I add to a 3 gallon sprayer. This is to kill insect etc in the yard to get rid of mole problem. thanks!
    4/10/24
A:For general insect control on turf with a 3 gallon sprayer you will use 0.9 fl. oz. of Imidacloprid 2F per 3 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. This will help to remove the mole food source, but we also recommend using the other products in our DIY guide to remove the animal itself. We offer both humane and non-humane control efforts in the guide. https://www.solutionsstores.com/mole-control
