The Hypro D-30 Diaphragm Pump is manufactured by Hypro and is an essential component for pesticide spraying rigs to deliver a pressurized spray of liquids for pest control and lawn care applications. The Diaphragm Pump features a max flow of 9.6 gpm and a max pressure of 580 psi. The Hydro D-30 pump can be adapted for male 1-3/8" splined shaft, female 1-3/8" splined shaft, 1" solid shaft, or gear reduction drive options.

Tools Needed

To use the Hypro D-30 Diaphragm Pump you will need to install it onto a pesticide spraying rig. For this, you will need a base plate (sold separately), two Lovejoy couplets, screwdriver, socket wrench, allen wrench, a claw hammer. You will also need a strainer to catch any debris. There are specialty tools (listed in owner's manual) that are optional.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Following the manufacturer instructions, remove the old Diaphragm pump from your spraying rig and replace with the Hypro D-30 Diaphragm Pump. The Pump hooks up to the gas engine via 2 Lovejoy couplets and you will need to mount it on a base plate which will hold it onto the frame then configure plumbing.
  • Step 2: Prime the pump by making sure all connections are tight and do not leak air. Also, make sure the strainer line is free of debris. If the pump does not self-prime, disconnect the suction hose, fill it with water and reconnect it to the liquid source. A squirt of oil into the pump ports will help to prime by sealing clearances.
  • Step 3: After every application, flush the pump with a cleaning solution that will neutralize the liquid pump then flush it with a 50-50 solution of car antifreeze and water to prevent corrosion. Turn the shaft several times to drawl the protective liquid through the pump to coat the entire inner surface and then drain the pump and plug the ports to keep air out.

Where to Use

The Hypro D-30 Diaphragm Pump is a replacement part for a variety of industrial uses. We use them primarily in pesticide spraying rigs for pressurizing the sprayer liquid during applications.

Safety Information

Always use the proper PPE when operating or performing maintenance to the piston pump (safety mask, gloves, protective eyewear).

Special Considerations

Never pump corrosive or abrasive liquids as these will cause rapid wear or deterioration of body, rotor, shaft, and seals in the pump. The pump should be used only with liquids compatible with pump component materials. Never exceed maximum specified rpm and pressure. Never run the pump dry. Failure to follow this warning will void the product warranty.
