Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control is a systemic insecticide manufactured by VPG, Inc., that protects the exterior of your residential, commercial, landscape, and recreational turf from fire ants.

Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control has an active ingredient Acephate 75%, which works well to quickly kill fire ants within your lawn and non-crop areas such as field borders, fencerows, roadsides, ditchbanks, or borrow pits. By applying to grassy areas needing treatment, you can gain control of the fire ant's termination by allowing them to directly ingest the water-soluble powder.

Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control offers a long residual and 1 pound of product is enough to treat up to 108 square feet.

Tools Needed

When applying Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control you will need to sprinkle the product evenly out of the bottle or with a measuring spoon meant for applying chemicals.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Prepare the area by removing any debris and available food sources such as pet food or trash from the area where application is to be placed. Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control will best be applied early in the morning when fire ants are more active and increase the chances of fire ants ingesting the material when they search for food.
  • Step 2: Apply by evenly distributing 1-2 teaspoons over the top and sides of the mound. For best results, do not disturb the fire ant mound when applying the powder. If the mound is disturbed, fire ants will ignore Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control and prioritize saving or moving the queen fire ant. When applying, be cautious of the wind to prevent possible drift into food, forage, or other plants that might damage crops unfit for consumption.

Where to Use

Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control is for outdoor use as a mound treatment for fire ants in residential, commercial, landscape, recreational turf and non-crop areas like field borders, fencerows, roadsides, ditchbanks, or borrow pits.

When to Use

Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control is best used early in the morning or late in the afternoon when fire ants are more active. Fire ants make their nest in deep underground tunnels underneath piles of dirt so when you begin to see these mounds on your turf apply Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control.

Safety Information

Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying or mixing the wet-able powder.

Do not allow livestock to graze the area treated with Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control or feed treated grass to livestock.

Special Considerations

Do not continuously apply Hi-Yield Fire Ant Control more than once per season or apply more than 4 Ibs of this product to sod farms or 5 1/3 Ibs to golf courses.

Apply when weather conditions have not been prolonged dry or hot as this may be ineffective for fire ants, they will reside deep in their nest to escape the heat. Grassy areas treated with this product may be affected.
