Monterey Herbicidal Soap is manufactured by Monterey and is a powerful non-selective herbicide that can kill moss, algae and weeds growing in your yard, driveway or garden. This fast-acting herbicide uses environmentally-friendly ammonium soaps as its active ingredient and can be easily mixed into a gallon sprayer without staining surfaces like stucco, concrete, pavement or wood. Monterey Herbicidal Soap can be used any time of the year when you want to treat invasive plants in cultivated areas of annual weeds and some bi-annual and perennial weeds like mustards plantain, stinkweed, sheep sorrel and more.. insecticide, miticide, and fungicide.
Tools Needed
To apply Monterey Herbicidal Soap you will need to mix the product in a gallon hand-pump sprayer or a backpack sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Identify the areas where preventive treatment or where immediate treatment is needed. You should then calculate the square footage of the area to be treated by measuring the length and width of the area and multiplying the two values (length x width = square footage)
- Step 2: Shake well and mix 26 oz. of Monterey Neem Oil in a gallon of water. 2.5 to 7.5 gallons of mixed solution can treat 1,000 sq. ft.
- Step 3: Spray infested plants and areas until the point of runoff. Use a coarse nozzle setting to reduce drift. Make sure to spray thoroughly.
- Step 4: Make repeat applications ever 2 to 3 weeks to control new weeds and regrowth.
Where to Use
Monterey Herbicidal Soap Insecticide on weeds within vegetable and flower gardens, landscaped areas, and lawns. Also, use on weeds in the vicinity of small fruits and fruit trees. Around and on buildings, sidewalks, fences, bark mulch, driveways, patios and gravel.
When to Use
Use Monterey Herbicidal Soap at any time during the year but is best used during warm and dry conditions. Best results are obtained with young, actively growing weeds, less than five inches in size.
Safety Information
When Monterey Herbicide Soap is used according to the label, it is safe around humans and pets. Allow the treated area time to dry before coming in contact with it. Avoid contact with eyes and wash hands thoroughly after handling. Where the proper PPE when mixing and applying the product.
Special Considerations
Application during cold weather may delay the appearance of plant damage. If rain falls within 3 hours of treatment, an additional spray may be required.
