Harris Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer, manufactured by PF Harris, is a powder material that comes in a puffer bottle for easy surface or crack and crevice treatments to guard against nuisance crawling pests like bed bugs in indoor and outdoor settings.

Compared to other liquid and pesticide sprays, this product is designed to prevent target insects from becoming immune to the active ingredients in Harris Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer. Formulated with no fillers or additives, only 100% freshwater diatomaceous Earth is ground into a fine powder. Within 48 hours, the material shreds the insect's exoskeleton through contact and stomach upon ingestion, resulting in complete elimination.

When dry, Harris Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer protects treated areas and plants, helping prevent future insect infestations.

Tools Needed

Harris Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer requires no other application tools since it comes ready to use in a puffer container. You may use a hand duster, bulbous duster, or power duster. For outdoor slurry applications, you must use a handheld pump sprayer.

We recommend using a bulbous duster or other suitable equipment for crack and crevice treatments.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Harris Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer to use by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To find this, measure the length and width of the treatment site in feet, then multiply (length X width = square footage). The amount of product to be applied will vary with the site but should usually be in the range of 1 to 5 oz. of Harris Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer per 100 sq. ft. Perform only spot treatments for food/feeding handling establishments no greater than 2 sq. ft. per application.
  • Step 2: Add the required amount of Harris Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer to your chosen dust applicator or sprayer. To mix for sprayers, fill the spray tank 2/3 of the way with the desired amount of water. Add up to 26.5 oz. (dry Harris Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer) to each gallon of water used. Shake the spray tank to ensure even mixing.
  • Step 3: Apply light and fine dust to cracks, crevices, and other labeled infested areas. Avoid leaving deposits of product on exposed surfaces or spraying into the air. Slurry treatments are only meant for outdoor applications. To perform a slurry application, you will want to spray the treatment area until wet but not to the point of runoff. For either application used, make only one application per seven days.

Where to Use

Use Harris Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer in and around residential and commercial buildings, structures, and around food/feed handling establishments. Place this product in areas where pests are found, such as cracks and crevices, behind and beneath refrigeration, cabinets, stoves, garbage cans, around patios, floor and bedding in and around pets sleeping quarters, baseboards, carpeting, along baseboards, carpet edges, under carpeting, furniture, in closets (with no clothes inside) and shelving, dismantled beds (place in joints, crevices, and where rungs are inserted), folds and edges of mattress, window and door frames, around foundations, along ant trails, in attics and basements, and around sewer pipes and drains.

This product may be used around plants but cannot be placed directly on plant leaves, stems, exposed roots, or branches.

When to Use

Apply when pests are seen or suspected to hide. Applications are best made prior to pest activity, which is the highest in spring and fall.

Outdoor applications should be made when plants display holes and leaf distortion. This product should be applied at least 48 hours before rainfall and wind patterns, as it will wash away after excessive irrigation.

Safety Information

Harris Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling or applying this product.

Remove or cover all food, feed, and food items before applying this product. Wash exposed surfaces and utensils after application.

Special Considerations

Harris Diatomaceous Earth Crawling Insect Killer is not meant for human or pet consumption. For this reason, it is not recommended to apply it to plant leaves and other plant material.
