Floramite SC/LS Ornamental Miticide

Floramite SC/LS Ornamental Miticide, manufactured by OHP, is an effective selective miticide that provides a fast knockdown of mites and all stages of tetranychid spider mites on ornamental crops grown on ornamentals and non-bearing fruit trees. Thanks to its residual activity, reapplications are not needed for 28 days.

Its active ingredient, bifenazate, belongs to the carbazates class of chemistry, which gives it a unique mode of action unlike many other common miticides. This novel mode of action is crucial for resistance management because it allows growers to rotate it with other products to avoid mite populations becoming resistant.

Floramite SC/LS Ornamental Miticide is a unique, broad-spectrum miticide concentrate that delivers excellent control over mites in bedding plants, flowering plants, bulb crops, and more. One of the biggest concerns with miticides is their potential to harm beneficial insects. This product is relatively inactive against predatory mites and beneficial insects, making it an excellent fit for Integrated Pest Management programs.

Tools Needed

Apply ground equipment such as, but not limited to, compressed air sprayers, hydraulic sprayers, ground boom sprayers, or air blast sprayers.

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Floramite SC/LS Ornamental Miticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Apply 4 to 8 fl. oz. of Floramite SC/LS Ornamental Miticide per 100 gallons of water. Use as a full coverage spray to the foliage using a volume of 1 to 4 qts. of final solution per 100 sq. ft. (or 100 to 400 gallons per acre). Do not apply more than 32 fluid ozs. per acre, per year.
• Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until the solution is well-mixed. 
• Step 3: Ensure complete coverage of the upper and lower leaf surfaces of foliage, but not to the point of runoff. 

Where to Use

Floramite SC/LS Ornamental Miticide can be used on all ornamental plants including bedding, flowering, foliage, bulb crops, perennials, trees, shrubs, and non-bearing fruit trees in landscapes, residences, public, commercial, industrial, and institutional areas, as well as recreational sites like parks, golf courses, and campgrounds, and along rights of way and easements.

Do not use on ornamentals grown and/or maintained in interiorscapes or for commercial production, such as in greenhouses, shadehouses and nurseries.

When to Use

Apply as soon as infestations are noticed on days when rainfall is not expected for 24 hours after application.

Safety Information

Floramite SC/LS Ornamental Miticide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product. 

Keep people and pets out of the treated areas until the spray has dried.

Special Considerations

It is not effective against rust mites, broad mites and flat mites. This product is primarily active on the motile stages of mites, but also has ovicidal activity against spider mites.
