Escort XP Herbicide, manufactured by Bayer, is a great water-dispersable granule herbicide that fight over 35 types of broadleaf weeds, brush, and woody vines on non-crop areas, rangelands, pastures, and more.

Its active ingredient Metsulfuron-methyl 60%, which inhibits cell division and disrupts essential plant processes, leading to targeted weed death. Unlike many herbicides, Escort XP does not harm most desirable perennial grasses when applied correctly.

Escort XP Herbicide is unique because of its highly effective systemic action, long-lasting residual control, and exceptional selectivity.

Tools Needed

A backpack sprayer, knapsack sprayer, or spray rig may be used.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Escort XP Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For spot treatments pasture, rangeland, and CRP mix one gram of Escort XP Herbicide per one gallon of water along with 1 to 2 teaspoons of surfactant. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
  • Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and add the remaining half of water. Add the surfactant in last. Agitate the solution until well mixed.
  • Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of weed leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. When a spring application is made on fescue or bluegrass, a second application may be made during the summer after full seedhead maturation.

Where to Use

Escort XP Herbicide on conifer and hardwood plantations, non-crop sites, pastures, rangelands, conservation reserve program (CRP), and native grasses.

Do not use on lawns, walks, driveways, tennis courts, or similar areas.

When to Use

Applications may be made at any time of the year except when the soil is frozen.

Escort XP Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
