Eagle 20EW Specialty Fungicide, manufactured by DOW/CORTEVA, is a reliable fungicide that is used both for curative and preventative control of various plant diseases on turf and ornamental plants.

A single application of Eagle 20EW can protect plants for up to 28 days. The great thing about Eagle 20EW is you only need a small amount to do the job, it's that strong.

Eagle 20EW Speciality Fungicide is versatile fungicide that works systemically, working its way through the entire plant to fully protect it and remove any disease.

Tools Needed

To apply Eagle 20EW you will need a hand-pump, hose-end or backpack sprayer for residential spray treatments. Our top recommendation is a hand-pump sprayer.

How to Use

Spraying fungicide on ornamentals

  • Step 1: Determine how much Eagle 20 EW you will need by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure (in feet) the area length and width and then multiply the two values (length x width = square footage). The recommended rate of Eagle 20EW is 1 to 2.4 fl. oz. per 1,000 square feet. Depending on the diseases you wish to treat you should mix with 1 gallon of water for foliar diseases, or 2 to 3 gallons to control diseases causing root and crown rots. The exact amount varies depending on the disease type (check the label). For example, if you want to control dollar spot on turfgrass and measured an area of 3,000, the label states to use 1 fl. oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. In this case, mix 3 oz. of Eagle in 3 gallons of water to cover the entire area.
  • Step 2: In a hand-pump sprayer, add water about halfway and then add Eagle 20EW at the appropriate rate based on your calculations. Fill the tank the rest of the way with water then agitate well until the product is well mixed.
  • Step 3: Apply the Eagle 20EW spray solution as a spot treatment upon the first sign of the disease to the foliage or you could spray the solution preventatively. We recommend setting the sprayer to a fan spray to get a nice uniform coating on the infected plant.
  • Step 4: Reapply as needed every 7 to 10 days until the disease is gone or preventatively once a month during the disease season. It may take up to two months of repeat applications to successfully remove the disease, depending on the disease type.

  3. Q:On the watering in of eagle 20ew there seems to be 2 answers yes water it in as answered on this Q&A page and avoid mowing or water for at least 24 hours as stated in the how to instructions on this page above the Q&A so please what is the real answer?
    9/2/23
A:This is a systemic fungicide which means after the fungicide has made contact with the leaf surface of the plant it moves from there down through the plant to the roots. Watering very lightly right after applying can help the fungicide spread over the leaf surface more but it should not be necessary. Soil borne diseases are a different story as the would require watering in, but Eagle is not labeled for any of those diseases I don’t believe.

  5. Q:How much Eagle 2EW per gallon of water to treat anthracnose on dogwood trees?
    8/3/22
A:Apply Eagle 20EW Specialty Fungicide at the rate of 6 to 12 fl. oz. per 100 gallons of water on a 10- to 14-day application schedule unless otherwise directed. Use the higher rate under conditions of high disease pressure and/or optimum conditions for infection. On a total volume per acre basis, do not apply more than 333 gallons of spray per acre at the 6 fl. oz. per 100 gallons rate or 167 gallons per acre at the 12 fl. oz. per 100 gallons rate per application.
