Drexel Imitator Plus, manufactured by Drexel, is a fast-acting post-emergent herbicide designed to control a wide range of annual and perennial weeds, trees, woody brush, and more.

This emulsifiable concentrate works quickly by absorption and eliminates weeds by moving through the plant from point of contact, with complete absorption happening within just 6 hours. It travels down into the roots for a complete and thorough kill. Visible yellowing and deterioration occurs on most annual weeds within 2 to 4 days and most perennial weeds within 7 days or more.

Drexel Imitator Plus is versatile and easy to use and mix. It can be applied with a wide range of equipment and can be used around your home and property, but it is also great for agricultural and industrial sites, especially around Roundup Ready crops.

Tools Needed

To apply Drexel Imitator Plus, you will need a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or a skid sprayer. For professionals looking to treat large croplands and other areas, this product can even be applied from the air with aerial spray equipment.

How to Use

Spot Application on Lawn

  • Step 1: Determine how much Drexel Imitator Plus to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the treatment area's length and width in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). Depending on the application site, target weed, and equipment being used, the rates will vary. It would be best to refer to the label for specific mix rates. A general application for annual and perennial weeds should consist of 6.5 fl. ozs. of Drexel Imitator Plus to 1 gallon of water. This will produce a 5% concentration. For woody brush and trees, you will need a 10% concentration, which uses 13 fl. ozs. of product to 1 gallon of water.
  • Step 2: For a 1-gallon sprayer, begin filling halfway with water, and add the measured amount of Drexel Imitator Plus to the sprayer. Fill your sprayer the rest of the way with the remaining half of water and agitate thoroughly.
  • Step 3: Use a coarse spray tip and apply it to the foliage of the vegetation to be controlled. Your spray coverage should be uniform and complete. Be sure not to spray to the point of runoff. Retreatment may be necessary to maintain control if elimination is not achieved after 7 days.

Where to Use

Drexel Imitator Plus is labeled for use in areas such as airports, apartment complexes, commercial sites, ditch banks, dry ditches, dry canals, fencerows, golf courses, greenhouses, industrial sites, landscape areas, lumber yards, manufacturing sites, municipal sites, natural areas, office complexes, ornamentals, parks, parking areas, pastures, petroleum tank farms and pumping installations, public areas, railroads, rangeland, recreational areas, residential areas, rights-of-ways, roadsides, schools, sports complexes, storage areas, substations, turf grass areas, utility sites, warehouse areas, and wildlife management areas.

This product may also be used in non-food crop sites such as Christmas tree farms, plant nurseries, and sod or turf seed farms. It may also be used to prepare CRP land (conservation reserve program) for crop production. Avoid contact with foliage, green stems, exposed non-woody roots or fruit of crops (except as specified for individual Roundup Ready crops), desirable plants, and trees because severe injury or destruction may result.

When to Use

Apply Drexel Imitator Pus when annual weeds are actively growing, annual weeds are easiest to control when they are smaller. Reduced control may result when applications are made to annual and perennial weeds that have been mowed, grazed, or cut and have not been allowed to regrow.

Extremely cool or cloudy weather following treatment may slow the activity of this product. Do not treat weeds under poor growing conditions such as drought stress, disease, or insect damage, as reduced weed control may result.

Safety Information

Drexel Imitator Plus is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Do not enter or allow people or pets to enter treated area until sprays have dried.
Special Considerations

Drexel Imitator Plus has little to no residual soil activity, it must make contact with the foliage to take effect. Gusty winds over 5 mph can cause drift and unwanted injury to desirable plants.
