Drexel Imitator Aquatic
Imitator Aquatic, manufactured by Drexel, is a water-soluble concentrate that mixes readily with water and non-ionic surfactants. It's applied as a foliar spray for the control or destruction of many herbaceous and woody plants.
The active ingredient 53.8% glyphosate, moves through the plant from the point of contact and into the root system quickly elminating target weeds down to the roots. It's rain-fast within just 2 hours of appliction, with complete absorption within 6 hours.
Drexel Imitator Aquatic works well on emerged aquatic weeds, while still maintaining use for land applications around industrial, recreational and public areas.
Tools Needed
Drexel Imitator Aquatic can be applied with conventional sprayers such as a handheld pump sprayers, backpack sprayers, or a skid sprayer. For professionals looking to treat large areas, this product can even be applied with aerial spray equipment.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Drexel Imitator Aquatic to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the treatment area's length and width in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). Depending on the application site, target weed, and equipment being used, the rates will vary. It would be best to refer to the label for specific mix rates. For low-volume spot treatments, you will want to use a 5% concentration of Drexel Imitator Aquatic. This should consist of 6.5 fl. ozs. of product, to 1 gallon of water. A non-ionic surfactant containing 80% or more active ingredient will be needed for this application. Be sure to follow the instructions on your selected surfactant.
- Step 2: For a 1-gallon handheld sprayer, begin filling it halfway with water and add the measured amount of Drexel Imitator Aquatic. Begin filling your sprayer the rest of the way with the remaining half of water and near the end, add the required surfactant and agitate thoroughly.
- Step 3: Identify your target weed, if a straight stream nozzle is used, start your application of Drexel Imitator Aquatic mixture at the top of the targeted vegetation and spray from top to bottom in a lateral zig-zag motion. For flat fan and cone nozzles, mist your Drexel Imitator Aquatic mixture over the foliage of the targeted vegetation. Ensure that at least 50% of the leaves are contacted by the spray solution.
Where to Use
Drexel Imitator Aquatic can be applied in forests and non-crop sites such as wildlife habitat areas, airports, golf courses, highways, roadsides, industrial plant sites, lumberyards, parking areas, parks, petroleum tank farms; pipeline, telephone, and power utility rights-of-ways, pumping installations, railroads, schools, and storage areas.
This product can also be applied in aquatic sites and all bodies of fresh and brackish water which may be flowing, non-flowing or transient. This includes lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, estuaries, rice levies, seeps, irrigation and drainage ditches, canals, reservoirs, wastewater treatment facilities, and wildlife habitat restoration and management areas.
When to Use
Drexel Imitator Aquatic should be used when weeds are present and actively growing. Apply in warm sunny weather as extremely cool or cloudy weather following treatment may slow the activity of this product and delay visual effects of control.
Safety Information
Drexel Imitator Aquatic is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep people and pets off treated areas until the spray solution has dried or until 24 hours have passed after application.
Special Considerations
Drexel Imitator Aquatic does not control completely submerged weeds or have a majority of its foliage underwater.
