Current Aquatic Herbicide
Current Aquatic Herbicide
Current Aquatic Herbicide is a fast-acting copper-based herbicide that provides reliable control over a broad range of aquatic weeds.
Current Aquatic Herbicide, manufactured by UPI, is an effective copper aquatic herbicide that provides quick results against aquatic weeds in ponds, golf course ponds, and fish hatcheries.
Damages the cells in the aquatic plants with its active ingredient copper sulfate pentahydrate 31.27%, which stunts the weeds growth and stops them from reproducing.
Current Aquatic Herbicide is an easy to use and fast aquatic weed killer that clears up light to dense aquatic weed infestations in 7-10 days. Works rapidly enough to be effective in slow-moving waters without enforcing severe water restrictions.
Tools Needed
To apply Current Aquatic Herbicide, you will need to use a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or spray boat.
How to Use
- Step 1: Measure the size of the body of water to be treated and determine how much copper concentration you need to determine how much Aquathol K Aquatic Herbicide to use. To find the size of the water body with copper concentration in mind use the following formula: Target [Cu++] (ppm) x Ave. Depth (feet) X Surface Area (acres) X 3.34 = Gallons of Current Aquatic Herbicide to use. This formula will provides the results of this calculation on a per acre basis for 1 to 10 foot average water depths in 1 foot increments for target copper concentrations of 0.5, 0.75, and 1.0 ppm. Without copper concentration in mind, determine the water body size and depth. To determine acre-feet volume, measure the length, width, and depth of the waterbody, and then divide by 43,560 (length x width x depth / 43,560 = acre-feet). Apply 1.7 gallons of Current Aquatic Herbicide per surface acre for large water bodies with a depth of 1 feet to deliver a 0.5 ppm. For larger water bodies with a depth of 1 feet and a desired 1.0 ppm ratio, use 3.3 gallons of product per surface acre. For smaller treatment areas with a depth of 1 feet and a desired ratio of 0.5 ppm, apply 5.0 fl. oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. To treat smaller treatment areas with a depth of 1 feet and a desired ratio of 1.0 ppm, use 10.0 fl. oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. Best to refer to the label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill your selected sprayer with the proper amount of Current Aquatic Herbicide.
- Step 3: Spray the Current Aquatic Herbicide to the surface of the water with weeds. To avoid excessive oxygen depletion and fish kill, treat no more than 1/2 of the water body at one time. Do not apply more product than required for the treatment area, and allow 10 to 14 days before making application to the remaining portion of the water body. If necessary, repeat applications of this product may be made. Wait 14 days before re-treatment.
Where to Use
Current Aquatic Herbicide may be applied to fresh water lakes, potable water reservoirs, ponds (including golf course ponds), fish hatcheries and other such slow moving or quiescent bodies of water.
Do not allow sprays to drift over crops, ornamentals, grass or other desirable plants.
When to Use
Apply Current Aquatic Herbicide during periods of active weed growth to the leaf surfaces in areas of dense weed foliage. Because it must be adsorbed into the plant to be effective, applications of this product should be made when contact times of at least 12 to 24 hours can be obtained.
Safety Information
Current Aquatic Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Water treated with this product may be used immediately after treatment for recreational activities.
Special Considerations
Decomposition of dead plant material can result in dissolved oxygen depletion and subsequent fish kill.
For applications in waters destined for use as drinking water, those waters must receive additional and separate potable water treatment. Do not apply more than 1.0 ppm as metallic copper in these waters.
