BotaniGard 22WP Biological Insecticide
BotaniGard 22WP Biological Insecticide is an effective wettable powder insecticide that controls a wide range of soft-bodied insects in greenhouses, nurseries, and field crops with a biological formula that delivers effective pest control while supporting environmentally conscious, sustainable growing practices.
10/25/25
BotaniGard 22WP Biological Insecticide, manufactured by BioWorks, is a high-performance biological insecticide that controls various soft-bodied pests in greenhouse, commercial landscape, and turf sites. It provides consistent, season-long protection on vegetables, fruits, herbs, ornamentals, and berries offering growers a sustainable solution with no limit on applications and a 0-day pre-harvest interval.
At its core, BotaniGard 22WP is about biological warfare, but the good kind. It leverages naturally occurring fungi (Beauveria bassiana Strain GHA) that are deadly to insects but harmless to humans, and animals. Because it’s a fungus-based formulation, there are no toxic residues left on crops or surfaces. It's safe for use up to the day of harvest.
BotaniGard 22WP Biological Insecticide is a safe and effective way to handle adult and immature stages of aphids, thrips, whiteflies, and more in commercial and agricultural crops. It contains the highest spore concentration of any Beauveria-based insecticide and offers versatile use as a stand-alone treatment, tank-mix partner, or in rotation with other insecticides for effective integrated pest management.
Tools Needed
You will need a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much BotaniGard 22WP Biological Insecticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For control over whiteflies and aphids in greenhouse, nursery, landscape, and interiorscape use 1/2 to 1 pound of BotaniGard 22WP Biological Insecticide per 100 gallons of water. To control thrips in greenhouse, nursery, landscape, and interiorscape, apply 1 to 2 pounds of product per 100 gallons of water. To control other pests in greenhouse, nursery, landscape, and interiorscape, mix 2 pounds of product per 100 gallons of water. One hundred gallons of spray volume will typically cover 5,000 to 20,000 square feet. For turf and soil applications in container ornamentals, use 1 to 4 oz. of product per 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until well-mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of the foliage leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Irrigate the treated area after application to disperse BotaniGard 22WP into the soil. Apply this product at 5 to 10 day intervals. High insect populations, especially whitefly and aphids, may require application at 2 to 5 day intervals. Repeat applications for as long as pest pressure persists. There is no limit on the number of applications or total amount of BotaniGard 22WP, which can be applied in one season.
Where to Use
BotaniGard 22WP Biological Insecticide can be used in ornamentals and vegetables, indoor/outdoor nursery, greenhouse, shadehouse, commercial landscape, interiorscape, and turf.
When to Use
For best results, start applications at the first sign of pest activity.
