Bonide Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control with Systemaxx Concentrate, manufactured by Bonide, is an excellent systemic insecticide that provides year-long control against foliar and sucking insects in outdoor residential ornamentals.

The product’s systemic formula allows it to be absorbed by the plant's roots and distributed throughout the tree or shrub, offering inside-out protection. This approach ensures complete insect control without the need for constant reapplication. The concentrate contains imidacloprid, a trusted insecticide that targets pests such as borers, aphids, and Japanese beetles by disrupting their nervous systems, leading to quick and effective elimination.

Tools Needed

A handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, knapsack sprayer, tank-type sprayer, or compression sprayer will be needed. 

How to Use

• Step 1: For trees: Measure the circumference (distance around the tree trunk) in inches at chest height or at 4.5 feet from the soil using a flexible tape. Or, measure the diameter of the tree trunk in inches at chest height or at 4.5 feet from the soil. For shrubs: Measure the height of the shrub to the nearest foot. Round any inches down to the nearest foot if less than 6" and up to the nearest foot if greater than 6". Mix 1 oz. of this product per inch of circumference of the tree trunk to 1 gallon of water. For shrubs, mix 3 oz. of this product per foot of shrub height to 1 gallon of water. For foliar applications of ornamentals, mix 1.5 tsp of this product per 1 gallon of water. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions. 
• Step 2: Fill the sprayer with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until the solution is mixed.
• Step 3: For foliar applications, spray the top and bottom of leaves, stems, and branches until wet. For tree soil drenches, apply the solution to the root zone as a band around the base of the tree. Apply 1 gallon of the solution in a circular band from the base of the tree outward for 2 feet. For trees with trunk diameters more than 16 inches at chest height, apply 2 gallons of solution in a circular band from the base of the tree outward for 3-4 feet. For shrub soil drenches, the solution to the root zone as a band around the base of the shrub. Apply 1 gallon of solution in a circular band from the base of the shrub outward for 1 foot. For shrubs taller than 3 feet, apply 1 gallon of solution in a circular band from the base of the shrub outward for 2 feet. Do not irrigate immediately after a soil drench application.

Bonide Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control with Systemaxx Concentrate can be used for outdoor residential trees, shrubs, and landscape plantings.

Do not apply this product, by any application method to linden, basswood, or other Tilia species.

When to Use

Apply when insects first appear and before high pest populations are established, prior to blooming or after all flower petals have fallen off. When applying this product during dry periods, generously water the tree or shrub the night before treatment.

Do not apply to plants that are blooming. Only apply after all flower petals have fallen off.

Bonide Annual Tree & Shrub Insect Control With Systemaxx Concentrate is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product. 

Keep people and pets off the treated area until it has dried.

Special Considerations

Depending on the size and vigor of the tree, the uptake period may vary from one week to three months for larger trees.
